    Venting

The venting is the one disappointment with this mask compared to the Liberty. The liberty has holes on each side of the mask and is very quiet and quite gentle. The Quattro FX has vent holes on the front and it is quite a blast; good news is that it is angled upward and away from your partner.

This mask is very good and I understand why TF is so impressed.

What concerns me is that how much better I feel after using it for a few days. This is making me question what has been wrong with the mask I have been using for the last 3 months. I thought I have been loosing my "bounce" lately and Im now getting it back.

Ordered the FX whilst on offer at Resmed, they were very quick to get a measuring guide out and I ordered a Small over the phone and it was delivered next day.
I am so thrilled with it, so much more comfortable than my original mask (Mirage Quattro), I can have my glasses on whilst wearing it so I can read and watch TV if I want. It's lighter, more comfortable and I'm happy, my clinic will be getting them, but not by my next check up, but will supply replacement parts when they get them in stock probably by my next annual check up. I'm wondering if Pad A Cheek will do strap padding for them eventually?

OH - I am a sucker in my endless search for the perfect mask. Boundless optimism is usually marked by disappointment and another expensive addition to the discards drawer of silicone, vinyl and velcro.

How do you know what size to get? Where is the cheapest source? Tell me, please...

I just started using a Resmed Quattro FX and it really is quite nice. Until a few days ago I was using a Forma full face and had problems with large leakage. That is not a problem with the Quattro. It fits much better and feels good. The only problem I'm having is I'm claustrophobic and every now and then I feel a little panic attack coming on since the mask is so small. I've been able to control it however and so I'll continue to use it. Thanks for your thoughts about this mask - very helpful.

The three sizes only come with a medium headgear - so my top adjustment is a little tight and the bottom just a little tighter than as large as possible. With those settings, the mask 1. cannot give you a sore nose as the contact is so feather light and 2. I don't think it knows how to leak - I couldn't persuade it withouit unclipping a strap!

Full face but small (so reduced lift at your pressure), no forehead rest. The cushion is so comfortable, soft. A fantastic design. A ninety second trial moves this mask to the top of my preferred list.

I'll review when I've slept in it but take it from me already, for full-facers, this is a must have mask! I've forgotten about waiting for a full face SleepWeaver already!

Bizarrely, the measuring tool to discover which size mask you need comes with the mask - same packet. So, from the bridge of your nose to the dimple/hollow in your chin is the measurement: small is 9cm; medium is 10cm; large is 11cm. (sheet of paper with a hole cut out for your nose, cut circles of those diameters.) Only headgear size currently available is the one that comes with the mask - medium.

How long to persuade the NHS to provide these masks? At £139, they're a little more privately than the Quattro.

Can we help find a solution? Help, please.

I've been using a Resmed Quattro FX for a couple of months now and, due to departing little grey cells, only using one of two large headgears.

So, in fifty to sixty nights, the headgear has stretched and stretched so that I had to fasten it ways it was not designed for, with the Velcro fasteners round the back of my head and on the halo part of the headgear. It worked, even if my ears were twice overlaid with strap! I kept meaning to call Resmed but never got around to it.

However, at the same time, the Velcro fasteners were curling back so that, row by row of hooks, they had an ever reducing contact surface with the straps. Then on two consecutive nights, they actually parted. I called Resmed.

Resmed told me two things: I should not wash the headgear in baby shampoo but in washing up liquid solutions and that I was the first person to bring these problems to their attention. Resmed did one thing: they kindly sent me two new headgears and asked me to return the problematic ones in the pre-paid envelope they also sent.

So - wash your headgear in washing-up solution to prevent oil build-up and - this is the help part - if you are experiencing similar problems with the Quattro FX headgear, please either post here with the details of your problem(s) and I will forward to Resmed or write the delightful Sarah at Resmed direct at

That reference will tie your remarks to the same file about these headgears.

Having to buy new headgear every few months would be prohibitive but this is a superb mask. Getting Resmed to supply more robust headgears must be a good solution!

                  Thanks for your help

As I have said in this post the ZZZ mask had the same problem.
To get some more life out of the headgear I replaced the tabs with self adhesive Velcro which worked fine.
Looks like I will have to do the same on the FX

                      Liberty

The Mirage Liberty Headgear has the same problem and the side straps have a tendency to curl up (longitudinally).

OK - I have bitten the bullet and spent some more of my (dwindling) savings on a Quattro FX. Got it today and just tried it on - it must be the smallest, lightest, least obtrusive full face on the market. Let us hope it will kick start me again - as I have got into the nasty habit of removing any mask I wear (and I have a few!) in my sleep. Looking forward to trying it...and going to bed right now...

Not a perfect night's sleep - with a cough and cold that was always going to be difficult, but I did get about 4 or 5 hours with the mask - which is more than I usually manage. Yes - it is lighter, less obtrusive than other masks - the seal is brilliant. But it is still a mask! So - dry mouth continues to be an issue - I am pleased so far and hope to make further progress.

                            Quattro FX headgear

After experiencing problems with two headgears, I reported my difficulties to Resmed and sent them the "defective" items when they sent me two brand new ones.

I am delighted to copy the following, received from Resmed Abingdon:-

"I would like you to know that we have liaised with our UK Patient Interface Product Manager who has escalated the matter to our Head Office in Sydney, for further investigation."

Fingers crossed for a beefier product!

                                Hi silvercarper

The short answer is, "No, I haven't".

I am utterly curious about what you think may need retesting and why you think that.

All my stats tell me I'm doing well on CPAP.
