  • Resmed FX

Hi I use the Resmed FX full face mask and it is pretty good

The softgel interior is good, however the top strap that goes over the top of your head has a tendancy to slip
Overall I would give this one 9/10 and the venting is pretty good too, its fairly lightweight

Just my opinion others may prefer other masks

    • Hi Folks.
Been using a med FX now for about four months supplied by my local clinic but the bottom straps have now lost the ability to stick to the velcro sticker securely, this point is where I always have it fitted, does anyone else have this problem.
I know earlier in this thread that Tigers Fan had problems with the fasteners folding over but where my problem is the straps seem to have narrowed and all the cushion part of the material has lost its ability to allow the fasteners to grip so after about an hour of wearing it it rides up my face so that the bottom seal is sitting on my lips and starts blowing a gale.

      • Fit a Quattro headgear - probably a size smaller. A Quattro headgear on a Quattro FX solves all the problems.

        • Thanks Tigers Fan I will have a look at getting one, see that they are also cheaper than the FX headgear. Such a shame they wear out so soon will be an expensive item over the year.

          • Headgear?

With all the fuss over this mask I ask my clinic to give me one and they did with a demo on how to put in on at night. It doesnt go on like a normal mask. I did try it for a few nights but I just didnt like the feel of it, it always felt like it was too small. The first few nights were ok but then it leaked like mad, so I have a new mask that lives in my draw

Here is the video on Sizing and Fitting, hope this helps

            • As it seems that getting the right size for this mask is critical just using the template is not sufficient especially if you are between sizes.
You need to try on both your likely sizes to find which one gives the best fit.

                • I found this mask comfortable to wear, but it constantly leaked, tired different sizes etc, in the end i went back to the clinic saw a different nurse who told me she would have never recommended this mask as my nose is too small!! (better than having a huge honker i guess) apparently this is quite a common.

                  • I have dropped down to a medium and it has not slipped up into my eyes and also my unintentional leak rate, which the Resmed S9 displays, is 1.2L/min .
And I have got my bounce back yipeeeeeeeeeeeee
Keeping leak rate low as possible seems to work for me.

                    • Resumed

Im currently using a resumed quatro and find it very satisfactory indeed. The only issue I have with it is the straps almost cover my eyes they are so close, but as I'm asleep most of the time they don't usually bother me. In every other way I'm happy with it even with a full beard which makes it leak here and there I feel I can cope with it. I guess it really depends on how well one sleeps generally.

Im sorry, my spell checker transmuted Res Med for resumed before I realised it, dammed computers!

For me this mask is pretty good, light weight your face seems to accept it pretty quick, I have had some minor leaks which are easily fixed overall I would give this 9/10

                          • My FX is on order!

Didn't mind my old Quattro as I've gone through the various models but with the forehead rest it is a bit chunky and the FX does look much better. The Churchill had no objections so hopefully I can say more about it next week..

                            • I'm only a newb to cpap, but I had the Resmed Quattro FX for a few days and found it started to wander up my face a bit and began pushing on my teeth, leaving me with an ache all day.

Had to switch to one with forehead support to stop it shifting.

                              • Although I tried the FX I found it most uncomfortable, I was measured for a medium but my normal full face quattro is a large. I did keep with it for about a week then went back to my old trusted Quattro full face with forehead support, I find this mask the best out of all as its more adjustable than most.
