Great, thanks for the heads-up. No excuses for late registration this time as you heard it here first, almost 8 months in advance. We'll be there of course.

I have attended several years on the trot (though not last year, I had a ticket but fog saw me trun back and go home) and always found it well worth the money and the effort. There are lots of suppliers and manufacturers, so you can examine kit and talk about it. The talks given and workshop discussions are never less than interesting and informative, and as always you always get something if only a useful tip out of meeting other people in the same boat during the coffee and meal breaks. The food is also very good and worth the entry money alone. My only note of caution is to get there early if you want to park nearby.

Anyone up for meeting up early beforehand @ James's stand?

              SATAday at Oxford

              Sparticus,

Try contacting the Scottish Sleep Apnoea Trust to see if they would be interested in having an event north of the border, especially for the Scots.

My own gripe about SATA day is that it is very Oxford-oriented, and always has been. But when you remember that it is organised and run by a team of volunteers, you can understand why.

I have been to every one since 2005 (except the year they didn't hold one) and never like to be late, so expect I shall be there...

I am sure there is a case for regional OSA conferences throughout the UK. Just reading the Sleep Apnoea Trust's web-site gives you the impression that if you're within 50 miles of Oxford you're OK, but anywhere else, hard luck. But, having said that, there is the Welsh Sleep Apnoea Trust and the Irish SAT, not to mention the Scottish SAT.

These are all volunteers, and so resources are limited.

However, there are a number of privately-run 'sleep-centres' around the country, charging an absolute arm and a leg for 'sleep-studies', not just diagnosing OSA, mind you. Some of them might be willing to put their hands in their pockets for a contribution towards a local OSA conference, perhaps.

You may have seen on TV a few weeks ago of an elderly lady who was absolutely incensed that she was diagnosed with OSA and had to return her driving-licence. She spent thousands on sleep-studies with a view to getting the DVLA's decision over-ruled. Needless to say, it wasn't. But that's just one indication of how much is spent in treatment of the problem, and how many more people could be helped with a little more awareness.

Should see me if I can get out of bed soon enough after a late night at the ballet. Might just be a bit late arriving!

You'll be a blonde in pink? I'll introduce myself!

Hmmm, I could wear my sleepweaver to make it easier to recognise me LOL
I'll let you know nearer the time what I might be wearing.
I don't think I have anything in pink that fits these days.

                          See you there!

It'll be cold next month so I would wear a coat with that Sleepweaver if I were you!

Joking aside my tip is get there early to park, last couple of times saw me parking a bit too far away.

Pretty much the entire Intus team will be there to say hi, talk CPAP with or to talk nonsense with! Whatever you prefer, we're there for you!

Perhaps we should do a little fancy dress contest indeed, encourage you all to come wearing your SleepWeaver, either on your head or elsewhere.
