Hi Chaps and Chapesses,
Have any of you tried the SleepWeaver Anew Full Face mask yet?
I'm currently using, or rather still trying to use, the ResMed Quattro Fx, which I find quite comfortable generally, with the occasional leak and the occasional absolutely incapacitating wind, that takes hours to get rid of!
Of greater concern is that 3 months on from getting my CPAP paraphanalia, I'm still not feeling the lurve - er, I mean the benefit. I am making myself lie there with mask on to get at least 4 hours under my belt and I clearly am getting some sleep, as it shows an AHI, somewhat variable. I even managed over 5 hours last night. But it's fragmented sleep - I was not a snorer, I was an insomniac! I wake up frequently, with between half an hour to an hour and a half asleep at a time. I doubt that my sleep quality is as yet much improved. As for dreams, what are they?
I'm persevering at least for now... DVLA have kindly just revoked my licence
- even though I have never had a tiredness related accident / event and have not in fact driven since the dat of diagnosis. (And am now unlikely to do for a while!)
Rant over - now to get back on topic: I have heard a lot of praise and positive comments about the other SleepWeaver masks, and I wonder whether the Anew, being full face, might suit me. I think my problems with CPAP are partly to do with the mask, but mainly to do with the mind and the sleeping position. I just cannot switch off to fall asleep most times anyway, and I particularly cannot do so lying on my back. I used to fall asleep on my tum, with my head to the side, but CPAP has put paid to that; I'm still trying to find a way to get comfy and fall asleep with the mask and hose. I haven't a problem with accepting that I'll be on it for ever, I just want it to get me asleep. (Like the loving husband, who CPAP-less just rolls over and falls asleep within minutes...)
Any words of wisdom and/or experience will be gratefully received, particularly regarding the masks.
I wonder whether there will be any of the SleepWeaver Anew masks available at SATADay?
