  • 1500 Hours

Got my Escape II and Mirage Quattro from my NHS just over a year ago and just had it serviced. Now logged 1500 hours! In the beginning I really thought I'd never get used to it and considered giving up many times with leaks, noise and general annoyance stressing me out. However, I'm now quite comfortable with Lady Silicon Lips and log a good few hours every night. Some issues with turning, the odd leak and the headgear slipping but nothing major.
I find it certainly knocks me out - never had an issue getting off. Also seem to have vivid and interesting but not at all unpleasant, dreams.
Can't say it's solved all my tiredness problems but I never have the horrible effect now of waking choking and it seems to blow my throat & sinus's clear so I don't get mucus build up from my previous shallow breathing. The silicon seal seems to have softened somewhat which helps but I guess I've just adapted to setting up my pillows, lying in a certain position and setting up the hose etc. It's a symbiosis really; I no longer find it at all unpleasant.
So I really want to assure newbies and those with issues that you really can get a handle on it. Perseverance, easing into it and really changing your attitude of mind; seeking the positives and building on them. To all newbies good luck and keep at it until you crack it.

        1500 Hours

Congrats on the 1500 hours and Happy Birthday Oldcrow!

TF--are you on the second floor, or in the attic? We're all a little daft when the gray matter starts to go. Now if I just knew where you were, I would fly over on my broom and save you from the Labyrinth. Alas--I spent a restless leaky night because my hubby is off on his yearly State Pool Tournament--so I am just going back to bed. I'd probably just fall asleep on the way there, and ditch in the ocean. He's gone for the week-- and I am going to treat myself like a Queen, and answer to no one. Maybe you need a map of the house? LOL xx Berneta

                  Plus and Minus

Interesting replies guys. Man did I hate the whole performance when I started and the leaks nearly drove me daft. Key factor was getting proper fitting advice. I do miss just being able to fall into bed without the ritual but ...Year on and I'm quite attched to LSL now - must be really into rubber! Doesn't faze me at all and lulls me off to sleep; I've never failed to get off.
Pluses are certainly the freedom from the awful choking and since I wake up in virtually the same position I guess the restlessness is a thing of the past too.
I'm still a real nighthawk and almost more alert after midnight than during the day - Doc calls it day/night reversal syndrome!!! That's what I'm doing up at 2am etc and I wait till I'm tired before attempting sleep and then get about 5 hours or so - fortunately I no longer have to go to work. So CPAP hasn't solved my sleep pattern or tiredness fully but I definitely get better sleep than I did with the frequent waking and thrashing around. I'm not sure though that the constant blowing into my lungs hasn't given me slight chest problems - maybe the dryness which I'll look into but on the whole it's been an interesting year and I'll certainly continue. Great dreams - anybody else get these?
