A good rule of thumb could be "Would I still be happy to put this filter in my Brita jug?". If the answer is no, change it!

You need a good sterilisation session with the CPAP Guardian. Kills everything in its path, including the things that smell.

                  Vinegar

Hi Graham, I don't think bleach would be a good thing to use in your machine. Try soaking everything in a strong vinegar solution except the machine. Then rise well and dry. Fill your humidifier with a clean vinegar solution and run your machine with that on high humidity for a couple hours. Then dump and rinse out the humidifier and run the machine with no humidity for several hours with a scented pad next to the intake. It will probably get rid of all the bad the odors. But make sure you run the machine til it smells ok. x Berneta

Milton is a bleach, and contains a lot of salt, and also the bleach decomposes to make more salt. The white residue is mostly salt.

Takes a few minutes of running the cpap not to smell like a public swimming pool though!

Hi Guys, I bet if you don't rinse most of the salt off the masks you will have salt irritations on your face. x Berneta

See our CPAP bags section. They are bags + disinfecting in one.

There needs to be some form of organised checking of power cables, yes. Only if you are loaned or hire a machine.
