  • Buying ResScan software for CPAP machines

I see this topic has come up a number of times. It appears that ResMed seem less inclined to sell the card readers & software to the public than they were in the past.

Before I try and acquire them through third parties, can anyone advise a good souce for the ResScan software? I think I've found a generic card reader, so just need the software.

    HI snorelikeatrain

My guess is that you will need to buy in the States.

Please guide us to the generic card reader. Resironics charge a fortune for theirs.

Ok, I thought I'd found the right model but my card doesn't fit - doh!

It came day after ordering and I believe I now know the correct one, so I should be able to confirm to you early next week. The software may be more complicated....

Hi, I was able to buy a Card Reader that works fine with the card that came with my ResMed device from this place:
        http://www.smartcardfocus.com/shop/i.../p/index.shtml

There may be cheaper suppliers but they were very prompt (an internet order was delivered the following day).

Whilst I was Googling to find possible alternatives to the official ResMed readers, I came across the following link. Please accept my apologies if it's not permitted to provide links to alternative CPAP forums: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t3...fferences.html
This is a long rambling thread but contains some info people may possibly find useful. By the way, though it mentions making your own card holder, this isn't necessary with the reader I bought.

          Fantastic!

          Fantastic piece of research, snoreslikeatrain!

A few months ago GrumpyBiker and friends were looking for just such a reader.

I bought the Respironics reader and software from the US - still very exoensive - worth their weight in gold when it comes to fine tuning your therapy, especially in the early days when when I couldn't tell good therapy from bad without a readout.

How about software? found it at a good price yet? Maybe the same site will supply Respironics software, too.

Hi lufc1953, yes I bought the ACS38 card reader from the link I provided above. They were very helpful, so for those of you with different machines (or from different manufacturers) I would drop them a line - they can probably advise on the most suitable one for you.

As for software, once I did a Google on ResScan 3.7, a whole load of links come up. Only you can decide which one to choose from, as some are via Bittorrent or patently ripped-off.

Guess it also depends on how helpful your doctor is. If they are, you may want to use them to advise on the readings from your machine. Mine went incommunicado as soon as he'd diagnosed me & didn't respond to requests to send me any printouts; I thus chose this route.

                        info please

have finally got the software that i wanted but cannot find a card reader to suit the data card for my machine

I am currently running the resmed s8 escape which has a strange data card and was wondering if the card reader that you have pointed too would be suitable to read this card

                              I know how you fell!

I tried all of this wrote to Resmed got the software of the net but when it came to a card reader forget it. There is one for sale on ebay now and then and not long ago there was a full set-up with card and reader but it comes at a price. All depends if you want to pay that kind of money to read your data and if its a NHS set-up then dont even mention it because they wont be happy with you and may become funny!!
