  • Herbal Remedy Trials

    Hi All!

I'm a student of Clinical Phytology (or herbalism to give it its common name!).

I'm currently working on some remedies in the form of herbal teas which I hope may help with managing the symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea. To help me with this, I'm looking for a couple of people who would be prepared to try them out. These are blends of commonly used herbs in their natural state, so nothing weird and way out! I wouldn't ask anyone to try something without them knowing what went in to it, so I'd be happy to furnish anyone that was interested with full details prior to them making a decision. There's no catch, or cost to you. If you were to take part, then I would send you full details. If you were to decide to go ahead, I'd post you some to try. All I'm looking for in return is an honest opinion to help me improve on ideas.

Please send me an email at charley underscore downey at hotmail dot co dot uk if you'd like to find out more.

    Thanks for your time.

    Charley

          Hi Charley,

Interesting as it sounds, this type of triallist recruitment doesn't sound like the usual way ethics commissions would approve of. So if it is through a university or other institution, perhaps you can share some more info.

              Mmmmmm?

Not sure how a herbal tea could help with OSA but if you know of a herbal substitute to help with tiredness, Im all ears

Sparticus, The theory is to use bronchodilating herbs to open the airways and help keep them active in sleep, while helping the body to get into REM sleep quicker, thus improving the quality of sleep to help with the inevitable exhaustion.

I've been studying herbalism informally for years, and a year ago decided to get more serious and get a proper qualification. The stuff I'm working on for OSA is something I originally made for my husband who has OSA, which helped him, and a few friends took part in the initial trials. One has had limited success, some have had moderate success, and one is really getting some serious benefits from it.

I've always seen what I do as complementary therapy - I don't expect it to replace tried and tested treatment - in fact to suggest that it should is in direct contravention to the principles of holistic practice - the aim is wellbeing enhancement, not cracking the human genome!

                    Herbal therapy

Hi Charlie-- I am interested in the herbal approach to all healing. However I think some Certification should be shown before anyone starts your therapy. Do you tell people exactly what herbs they are using, to avoid giving a herb to someone who might be allergic to it? And how long does your study last? More information is needed. Good Luck, Berneta

                            Update

Sorry for the delay in replying - things have been a bit manic as I had an assignment due in (the perils of styudying while working full time!)

Jacky - parcel on it's way today.

Sparticus - email should be in your inbox.

Berneta - happy to send you full details if you'd like to PM me your email address so I can send you the spec sheets as attachments. You can then decide based on all the available information if it's something you'd like to have a go with.

Just an idea but do you think we should move to the appropriate sub-forum before people start moaning we are making a mess.

James if you read this can you move us please, thanks
