I am in a right quandry.
I feel like I am back to square one.
I am so dreafully tired, not sleeping more than 2 hours a night.
All I can think is that when I had the study they thought I was asleep when I was awake.
I had a report back from the sleep centre and it said that I only had aponeas after 5am. Surely they can tell with all that equipment when I was actually asleep?
I said I had a bad night and found it almost impossible to get to sleep.
Yet they seem to think that only having aponeas after 5am (when I did eventually fall asleep) is not enough to need cpap.
My husband has suggested that I use it again but I am really not sure what to do.
My appointment with them is not until the 31st May when I am supposed to return the machine.
Any suggestions?

How about seeing how you go with four nights without any PAP gear, then four nights wearing your favourite mask without a hose and finally four nights with CPAP. As they say you don't need CPAP, I suggest a low pressure, say 8,9 or 10cm. Compare results.
Might be worth recording what you eat and drink and when, after 6pm say. Exercise, stress levels, state of the moon (some say a full moon disturbs sleep).
I have two theories about this: 1. you are border-line, sometimes have events, sometimes not and 2. as in 1. but affected by life-style that day.

It sounds to me like you were not tested well, go back to your GP and express your displeasure to him, I expect he'd tell you to to just go back on the CPAP and have another referral, I know that that's what I'd do.
Thanks for the replies.
I will try using the cpap tonight and see what difference it makes, I am sure to know after one night because I have hardly slept since I came off of it.
Thanks again

Hi Lorraine, If it was me and I was sleeping only a few hours a night, and felt bad--the answer would be easy. I'd go back on the CPAP and see how I feel after a few days. I don't think using it would hurt you--even if you don't need it at all. Its just that we would all rather be sleeping without one. And to my way of thinking-- if you have apneas, at or after 5 AM--then you still need the machine. Not everyone gets up at 5 AM like they do in clinics and hospitals. So if you slept later, say to 9 AM--then I wonder what your AHI would be, and how bad. TF is right, you need to do some serious testing-- and keep a written log of everything-- so if you have to go back to the clinic you can SHOW them the log. Its hard for Dr's and others to argue with written statistics. Wishing you well, xx Berneta
