My question remains, modified! What are Class 3 socks, please, silvercarper?

      Are you being serious????

There are three classes of compression
      hosiery:
      ■ Class 1 – applies 14–17 mmHg of pressure.
      Used for ‘tired legs’, varicose
      veins and mild oedema
      ■ Class 2 – applies 18–24 mmHg of pressure.
      Used for severe varicose veins,
      prevention of ulcers, reduction of
severe oedema and reduction in risk of
      ulcer recurrence
      ■ Class 3 – applies 25–35 mmHg of pressure.
      Used for lymphoedema, prevention
      of venous ulceration, very severe
      varicose veins and post phlebitis/cellulitis.

Above taken from Nursing & Residential Care, July 2002, Vol 4, No 7

25 - 35 mmHg!!!! Now, that is putting the squeeze on!

I think/hope there must be a Class 0, as well. I've ordered "anti-embolism" socks but if that is similar, in hosiery terms, to mild oedema and mine are to be Class 1, 14 - 17 mm mercury, I'm anticipating being somewhat taller at the end of the day.

I shouldn't read medical texts - I finish up with so many conditions and complaints whereas I felt very well indeed before starting to read. I have symptoms of everything!!!

          Hi TF,
Have you given it serious thought as to how these stockings are going to be held up?
I have undergarments that might help, just state your colour and I will post them off to you.

              OMG

Hope you aren't suggesting a long garter belt for TF? I;m already laughing myself to death. Maybe I need some of those thigh high stockings. Wonder if they come trimmed in Black Lace? TF you'd better stop reading--or you may end up with more than you already have. (Little Blue Pills) LOL XOX Berneta

My understanding of several millimeters of mercury pressure, Lorraine, is that these socks will cling to my legs like stuff to a blanket! However, and just in case I'm wrong, I'd very much like to have a pair of your pinkest suspenders, please. That you have worn, of course!

Purely for the advanced reporting. But here's a deal. We'll collect the used socks, and ship them to the CPAP people afterwards

After reading that there is possibly a connection between CVI and OSA I have been elevating my leg as much as possible in the evening.
As my OSA was diagnosed after I had a DVT and subsequent CVI the connection between the two could be possible.
Its probably just a one off figure but my AHI was 0.2 last night.

Perhaps the Hose Lift can be modified to be a Feet Lift in the day...

Hey! these are great! My new compression/anti-embolism socks/knee-length stockings arrived whilst I was ironing some shirts - a stand-up, almost stand still chore that causes my legs and feet to ache after a while. I was already at the achy stage and a few shirts to go so I put a pair of the stiockings on.

What a diffference - immediately! My legs felt lighter and springier and soon the ache was gone. A few hours later and the usual grooves in my calf caused by the tops of my socks have gone - I'm wearing my socks over the stockings.

The stockings stay up by themselves, Lorraine, but I'd still like your pinkest suspenders, please.

Do the stockings have any effect on my AHI? Who knows? I'll dig the pulse oximeter out and find out over a few nights.

Bit of a bugger to get on - gawd knows what Class 3s are like, silvercarper!

You need to put them on first thing in the morning otherwise it will be a struggle.
What I hate is when I have struggled to put them on only to find that they are inside out .GRHHH.
Also, TF, if you feel the need to wear support socks I think it would be wise to get checked out by your GP

That thought had crossed my mind, too. I have a diabetic review with my GP in the morning - see if I can deflect the usual finger wag by showing him my nice, new comprssion stockings. Pink suspenders would have done it, for sure!

                                Flight Socks

HI TF--glad to hear that they made your legs feel better. If thats the case then you will be able to go on easier walks as well as finding standing easier. And its good you don't need those Pinkies. (LOL) Might get a pair of socks for my hubby, as he has calf problems when climbing into and out of the Simi Truck--and he has leg cramps at night. Hope it lowers your AHI too. Good luck with that. xx Berneta
