Hi all,
I've started using CPAP about a month ago, my sleep study showed 98 events when on my back and 18 when sleeping on the side, I am 39 yo and I do snore very heavily to the point where people asked me to get checked
I wasn't convinced about my sleep study as I had to use sleeping pills on that day and my pillow was not thick enough to sleep on back or side as I am stomach sleeper. Also I struggled to sleep properly because of the devices I had to wear.
However I was offered CPAP and decided to try it for some time.
Started with pressure of 8.5 and philips dreamwear nasal pillow, struggled a lot with it unless I sleep on my back, AHI was about 3 (5 was the max I had in one night)
After two weeks switched to Resmed N20 mask and felt it was much more comfortable and need much less tightening compared to dreamwear. And finally I can sleep on my side!
At the same time I started to use Beconase spray and reduced the pressure to 6.5, now my AHI is always 1 (in last week)
I started to question do I really need to use CPAP, it is possible that my main issue was congestion! isn't 6.5 too low? and I am getting only 1 event, in theory I think the pressure should he tuned down a bit.
Any suggestions or ideas or things I should try next? I don't want to get used to the machine if I didn't really needed it in the first place.
Thanks,
Meto
