  • How many "apnoeas" per hour?

I wondered if we could get some kind of comparison, because before I received my CPAP kit back in 2002, the monitoring measured my APH as 68, which I believe to be quite high.
So, I wondered what yours is.

I was never told what mine was, the consultant just showed me a trace and said I needed a machine today! The trace was full of lollipops which he said was events, it was black He picked up the phone and then said I was in luck, there were new machines delivered that morning, so come back in afternoon and pick up machine and see the Sleep Nurse to get instructions and a mask, see you in a year.

I was told I was 55 (severe) witch I'm still unsure how they calculated it as I hardly slept.

My last visit last year went ok but then she told me I don't need to come back anymore (was it something I said?) I just phone up and they deliver, the only time I have to go back is to get my machine serviced (2 years). Suits me

Back in the early days it was not important for the patient to know what their AHI (events) were. There was not the same awareness back then, you were just told you suffered from it and how bad you were suffering and that was it.
The hospital I go to does not even read the data cards unless you have a problem.

Mine were 55 per hour I went to the sleep clinic twice in the first year then a year after that and now I have been told they will get in touch in six years and will send me a mask every year but to phone if I have any problems nothing about pat testing my machine in the near future. Never felt as if I had the relevant information on sleep apnea.

Yes, PAT testing the machines didn't last long, I only ever had it done twice all the time I have had one!
Both times were two years in a row then it was never done again.

74 is quite bad, think of it, some events can last up to 30seconds or more, put that into an hour and think of how many more times you should have breathed!
                    Scary isn't it?
Try holding you breath as long as you have an event, most will find it is impossible to do it.
Not much wonder you brain keep waking you up during the night preventing you from getting sleep. Not much wonder you end up going around during the day like a zombie.
Falling asleep at every chance and just shattered, go to sleep and end up as tired as when you go to bed
                    CPAP, what a great invention

Going for my annual check up tomorrow. I'm betting I'm just told how many hours per day I'm averaging, am I having any problems and would I like any equipment.

                          Blimey that is high.
How long did you go before OSA was diagnosed and you had CPAP?
Do you reckon that you have suffered any long term, irreversible health problems as a result of OSA?

                            Just back from check in

How many hours per day do you think you are sleeping?
Do you need any new equipment (got new hose and filters)?
Calculation of average numbers of hours used in last 12 months?
No download of info from the beast.

Don't get me wrong , they are lovely folks and I'm really really REALLY glad I don't have problems but it might be nice to know what I'm up to in my sleep.

Just recently been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea.

Had the proper overnight study done last Thursday night where I averaged 58 sleep apnea's with the highest hour being 79. :/
