  • Stop breathing

Went to hospital yesterday there said sometimes I stop breathing 15 times in a hour does this happen to anyone else

    Yes, this is sleep apnea.

With sleep apnea you stop breathing a certain amount of times during your sleep cycle, I believe that 15 is quite mild where as I am severe at 55.

    Welcome to the Forum.

This is Sleep Apnoea, the most common kind is OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnoea) but there is Central Apnoea which is a whole different ball game.
OSA can be easily treated for most sufferers by using a CPAP, APAP machine to keep your airways open. It is your airways closing that stops you breathing in OSA, this is why it is Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, it is the obstruction that is the danger and wakes you up, this happens many times a night without most sufferers noticing, however your body does as it does not get the sleep it requires and you start to suffer from fatigue and tiredness during the day.
This get worse as you suffer more, in your case it is mild but may get worse as time goes on. You can try to help be loosing weight, though it does n0ot always work.

There are more than one type of Mandibular device out there, they do not always work.
There is an operation you can have, but there again I am told the problem area grows back again, so it is only short term and it is very painfull and prone to infection.
I think with a bit of advice most people can work the CPAP/APAP/Bi-PAP machines. They just take a bit of getting used to. Strangely, some people that has had a lot of trouble using them hold them in high praise once they got used to them. It is mostly determination and attitude that gets most through, though some do need guidance. That is why there are forums around to try to help those that are struggling a bit.
