I have been told I fell asleep the other month one afternoon, but I knew nothing about it. Yes since Ive been on CPAP Ive felt sleepy once or twice but easily controlled, not like the old days where I had to fight to stay awake. Has anyone else fell asleep and not known about, its worrying if it could happen while I was driving. I was not tired at all that day!

Get yourself retested, could be that your therapy requirements have changed!

Nodding off and not knowing about it was my specialty, where do I start. 80mph on the motorway well I say motorway it was the grass verge, woken by ballards at some roadworks as I ploughed threw them, asleep at the traffic lights, fell asleep standing up on machinary then thrown of it. Falling asleep at the computer and waking with qwerty on my forehead, fell asleep drinking coffee then looking like I'd wet myself the list is endless.

Now, I have trouble going to sleep when Im even in bed, havent nodded off in months thanks to my apap. I have named my machine after an amazing women, my machine is called "Berneta"

The person who said is a bit unreliable so its taken with a pinch of salt . But I need to satisfy my self. Was not like the pre CPAP days where I would fall asleep standing up drinking coffee, and I also have qwerty stamped on my forehead and that was at breakfast time! also killed 2 keyboards and a mouse with coffee .

I have been sat on a night, log burner on, dark, cosy and wife watching some makeover pap on tele and Ive dozed, but always know about it. Ive been on the hose for 6 months and sleep wise its great, just a bit energy problems which is still being looked in to.

My daughter and grandkids have called mine Brenda (the bed buddy)

Hi, this is a bit difficult.
It may be that if you are on a CPAP machine (I think you said you are) you just might need a slight increase in pressure (I had to have my one increased a few times) or there may be something else going on. You said you didn't even feel tired, this would make me go back to the GP and also speak to the Sleep Clinic.
I don't know how long you have been on CPAP as I don't think you said but I have spoken to a few that had to have pressure slightly increased.
The fact you said you were not tired makes me think there may be some underlying problem as yet not detected. Go see your GP and explain what is going on as see what they suggest.

Oh, and let us know the outcome.
          It is always of interest.

            Dropping off

Hi --I used to drop off all the time before I got my CPAP. I start reading a book only to wake up an hour later on the same page. But I always knew I'd been asleep. Start watching a movie and wake up at the end---boy I hated that. Worst of all was falling asleep and waking up with a kink in my neck cause my head fell to one or the other side. That doesn't happen anymore. Graham you should be careful naming your Machine after me--I have been known to nag, crab, complain, and now and then throw things. You might wake up with someone hard to handle who is making lots of noise. LOL I named my CPAP Python because it crawls all over me while I sleep. But since James sent me a fluffy cozy for Christmas--I call it Cozy Python. And don't care where it crawls. x Berneta

Falling asleep and knowing nothing about it sounds like more than sleep aponea, you should see your GP.
