A humidifier is not required by everyone, but if you get dryness and find it hard to breath as I did without one (I could only do 3 hours without one before I was so dry I couldn't breath and felt as if I was suffocating) they are a real benefit and as far as I am concerned they are of real benefit to people like me.

What I have found with my humidifier, Remstar R2, is that it does restrict the air flow .
During the night I find that I have to disconnect the humidifier to get some sleep. And believe me that is a pain !!!!

I didn't find it a problem, however if this is what you feel ask the Sleep Clinic if a slight increase in pressure would be advised to compensate for this?

I got my Humidifier with my apap months ago and I still havent used it yet, I wake up some days and my throat is stuck together due to dryness, call it what you want but I still feel its a pain having to fill it with water before I sleep. I think I will "stick" with my dryness thanks, maybe one day I will dust it down and take the wrapper of it as its new lol

It might be worth a go - you could join the "can't live without it" crowd and be forever grateful that you did

                Humidifier

I have one and could not sleep without it. In the summer it makes sleeping cooler if I add cold water and ice--in winter it helps keep me cozy and warm set on 4. (Along with an Electric Blanket and quilts.) Since I started using the humidifier, I have not had the dry nose or throat problems I read so much about. Have to admit that I am not always happy to have to take the time to clean and fill it though. Some nights when I am up late-- I just want to drop into bed and sleep without going thru all of that stuff. xBerneta

I like to both filter and then boil my humidifier water but if I have a bottle of wine before hand then its just London tap water

                    Water

I have never been able to figure out that if a city provides water that is safe to drink--then why would it not be safe for the tank in a CPAP? Is it more dangerous to breathe germ free water-- than to drink it? LOL Berneta

                      Lab Rat

Well I have tried my humidifier for 2 days now. I do know that the sleep is different but not sure how. I feel more groggy when I wake up. Do I like it? I'm not sure to tell you the truth, I dont think there is enough benefit to justify using it but I will continue to use it for now and give it a bit more time. Its amazing how a little change can disrupt your sleep. Maybe the change could be to do with dehydration. I may have to invest a little into this and see if I can run a test on dehydration when I wake to see how much dehydration occurs during your sleep, with and without a humidifier. Will be intresting to see if I humidifier does help toward "Drying Out" during sleep
