  • The bad nights...

So what do you do on the bad nights? Last night was night 9 for me, and so far every night has been better than the last, but last night everything seemed too be wrong, was too hot, then too cold, aching when lay on my back, mask leaking lay on my side so tightened up a little, then it was pinching, then leaking, so lay on my back again, then unmasked and got up, had a drink and pottered around, went back to bed, too cold, fell asleep, woke up after 2 hrs mask leaking and mouth dry, hit ramp, waited, hit ramp again...

Got up this morning feeling like I've been given a good kicking during the night - stats show a lot of activity during a few short sleep times. Wasn't really that tired when I went to bed which won't help I suppose.

    Bad Nights

yes I too get nights like that, you seem to get a good spell and then a night from hell, I usually just get up and wait till Im really tired which can usually mean staying up till the following night. The one thing I have noticed though after a few months, I dont need as much sleep and Im definatly not as Crabit!

last night was night 8 for me and the best so far, slept from 10.30 til 2.30, then only 35 minutes after that took mask off for an hour put it back on about 4ish slept for another 2 1/2 hours, i seem to be sleeping through any mask leakage now, does that matter?

        Leakage

I dont know about leaks as I never get them, the mask goes on as do my ear plugs for my music and thats me usualy for about 8 hours or so, dont get me wrong though its not all roses as some nights I just cant sleep if that happens the mask comes of and then I swear at myself usual when I wake up the next day

I find having a routine really helps me. I tried to make myself really tired before going to bed, that did not work. I left the telly on and that seemed to keep me awake more often than not.

So I went back to usual routine - radio on sleep timer, mask on and off i go like a baby. Its taken me months to get used to the mask, I use a nasal one, but the nights are getting better and longer.

3-2-1 you're back in the room!

Well, something woke me up. Great. And now I'm wide awake (the joys of a short CPAP nap...).

Hey ho, catch up on the forums for an hour, wind up the cats, then back to bed...

I know some people like to keep an MAD in their bedside drawer for nights like this. Take a break from CPAP but ensure you're at least OSA-free to some degree with a decent mandibular advancement device, like our SomnoFit For the odd once a month night, that'll be just fine.
