  • Nocturnal Epilepsy

I was diagnosed with OSA last November and Got a machine in December. (Resmed S8). Well I had problems keeping the mask on and my wife says I'm thrashing around. Also, still feel really rough during the day. So I went back to the Doctor at Oxford and they had me in for a second sleep study. They think I have Nocturnal Epilepsy. Yikes!!! Now got to go and see a Neurologist...

Hi PeeJay and welcome to the club.

Nocturnal Epilepsy sounds scary indeed, not something I've seen mentioned around here before. I wonder how a CPAP mask would have an effect on that.

Did the second study show any improvement post-CPAP?

I had to look that one up myself!

Is it Nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy (NFLE)?

The CPAP has stopped the OSA, at least when I can keep the mask on.

The epiliepsy hasn't yet been confirmed, my wife has made the observations and the the Sleep doctor has reffered my to a Neurologist, waiting for the appointment. So, I'm not on any medication for it.
