  • Sex in your sleep?

I'm writing a serious report for a national newspaper about a sleep disorder called sexsomnia where you have sex with someone while you're asleep without realising it and I'm looking for men or women who are willing to be interviewed about it for the piece. If you suffer with it and are happy to talk about it, please email me at [email protected]. Thank you.

Do you mean dream you have sex with someone Lauren, or actually having sex with someone?

              Nope

Must be a joke-- it would be impossible to talk about having sex in your sleep if you don't remember it. Unless its in a dream that you do remember. OSA hasn't had that reaction on me--too bad. LOL Berneta

I am actually feeling quite cross about this.

Just because we have problems with breathing in our sleep why would it make us more susceptible to having other problems too?
                Isn't one problem enough?

People come on this forum and know absolutely nothing about the subject then try and use us for their own gain or amusement.

Lauren, go away and play with the weirdoes somewhere else please.

This is not a joke. It is a medical condition and recognised as such by all the sleep disorder experts worldwide. And yes it does usually affect people who already have a sleep disorder. I have already interviewed experts and people who suffer from it and they're not weirdos. It's a condition people are scared to talk about because people might make fun and not believe it. Like sleepwalking or sleep eating, the disorder causes you to do things in your sleep - in this case sexual activities - without you realising it. Sufferers have no memory of doing it. It's not just a sexual dream. As I said I'm looking for serious case studies of people who do suffer from this. Thank you.

Ps. Sufferers almost always share a bed with someone and that is how we know that it occurs. They will tell them about their night time activity but sexsomniacs will have no idea they've done it.

I believe you are right, Lorraine - but add "gratification" to your list.

As any Sam could tell you, the bane of their on-duty lives are the sex callers. Thay have a million excuses between them for needing to talk about sex but that it the only real reason they call - to talk sex. We have to be nice to them as we hang up, in case the poor, lonely individuals eventually need to use Sams for support during times of distress or if they are feeling suicidal.

Twas said in humour, but even if i wasn't being a tad sarcastic i wonder how i would talk about something i dont remember....as opposed to talking about stuff i know nothing about (a sin of which i am def guilty). Though i suppose I could have got eyewitness accounts, unless it was dark and they wouldn't know it was me.... though the mask and associated apparatus would be a slight give away. Interview me in the Bahamas and I'll consider it.

You're right of course, but do I really have to feel sorry for a sick pathetic clump of human cells that calls it'self Lauren?
I'm probably being sexist here but no doubt it is a pathetic excuse for what was once a cute baby boy.
Why can't these people keep "what ever it is" inside their own heads and leave everyone else out of it?

Hormones and loneliness; low self-esteem and loneliness; alcohol and loneliness; all sorts of reasons.

Far more men than women but plenty of women. Hetero- and homo-sexual. Young and not so young. Lots of paedophiles but every sexual persuasion under the sun.

In their efforts to offer support to those in despair, distress or suicidal, Sams have to deal with endless sex calls.

Please give generously next time you see a Sam collection box.

                              Same Brush!

sexsomnia is a recognised condition and there has been many documentries to the fact but the problem is that we come under the title of Sleep Disorders, so every time there is a documentry on sleep we get tied with the same brush so the general public will think that we with "Sleep Problems" will all come under the same heading.

I suppose sexsomnia is like eating your dinner while sleeping, the actions are all there but the brain is away reading a good book lol
