    Snoring

    Hi Robin,
I am in the same situation.
My partner wakes me so i can roll onto my side or my stomach which seem to stop or at least reduce the sound (maybe he just likes my face being shoved into the pillow lol) My snoring is worse when i have had a few alcoholic drinks, it gets so bad sometimes he will sleep on the lounge or if i have fallen asleep on the lounge he will sleep in the bed room with the door closed.
I have recently had a sleep test at the hospital and have been told i require a CPAP machine. I am concerned the noise of the machine will be just as annoying as the snoring itself. (let alone the total sexiness a machine will bring into the bedroom! lol) If you do find something to help in your situation i would be greatly interested in hearing about it so i may try the same method.
    Good luck
    Hellz

Strangely enough I don't notice the noise, what there is of it. I'm too busy sleeping after awful nights for over 30 years.

I wish I'd have got it sorted out sooner.

        CPAP noise

I can assure you that in our experience the noise of the CPAP is nothing like as disruptive as snoring. My husband says it's because the CPAP is continuous, as the name implies, though at different pressures (some of which are louder than others). Snoring is intermittent and disrupts his sleep much more.

I've been on CPAP a year now and although I'm still on the journey, it has considerably relieved tension between us and as far as sexiness is concerned, the tension of causing him to be exhausted and the guilt I felt about that, had a much more detrimental effect on our sex life than CPAP does. Just needs a little forethought, that's all!

I'd encourage you to go for it - the rewards are worth the 'hassle'. You may need to try a few masks before you find one that works for you, but again, persevere and it will be worth it.

        Good luck!

I echo HThomas' sentiments above about the CPAP noise, which is nothing compared to the benefits you get from it.

                Anti-snoring aids

The use of anti snoring aids such as nasal spray, adhesive nasal strips and the use of a chin strap are additional over the counter methods which are also effective. The chin strap when fitted holds the mouth closed forcing the person to breathe via their nose and there fore unable to snore.

It doesn't stop the apnoeas though which in turn can seriously damage your health.

Anyone that snores loudly should go to their GP and seek advice.
The GP should have you checked out to see if there is an underlying cause.
Not everyone that snores has Sleep Apnoea.
Go to your GP and take your partner with you, it affects both of you and you have to get this across, you may have to be quite insistent that he takes you seriously.
If your partner or you yourself stops breathing during your sleep you must bring this up with the GP and suggest Sleep Apnoea to him and insist you get checked for it. The GP may put you to Ear Nose and Throat (E.N.T) first to check for anything else that may be causing the problem.

                      Oh, and good luck.

                        Snoring

Hey that is great news! Esp since snoring can wake you up with a gasp or snort. My sleep study showed that I never snore at all. (But I have Central Apnea not Obstructive) Sometimes I wonder though-- as I think I can hear myself snoring--could be a dream though. Last night I dreamed I was moving to Louiville Kentucky with my (long dead) Aunt and Uncle. Strange dream--but I seemed to want to go. LOL. Maybe because I have always loved the Blue Grass State with their Great Southern Mansions and Beautiful Horses. Sleep Well, x Berneta

Don't know about the shop but yes you can try some of these and it might help you..Elevate your head by sleeping on a thicker pillow or multiple pillows will help reduce your snoring.

Don't drink alcoholic beverages, take sleeping pills, tranquilizers, or antihistamines right before going to sleep; they will cause your muscles to relax and limit your air passage way.

Avoid dairy products, which can cause mucus build-up right before you go to sleep.
