  • Newly diagnosed and looking suggestions

    Hi
I'm newly diagnosed but have decided on the Philips Respironics Dreamstation Auto with humidifier machine.
    * I wondered what people's thoughts or suggestions are?

    * The mask I've looked at is the Philips fitlift or (liftfit), which is a seal around the hair line basically.
I wondered if anyone had experience of that?

I was supposed to get my appnt on 5th May with respiratory nurse to get the machine but my sats are dropping below 50 which they are aware of as I've been diagnosed with stage 2 respiratory failure.
I've my results of 62 apnoeas an hour and I've also hypoventilation syndrome.

Can't believe i was doing 12 hour shifts up until 5 years ago.

Any suggestions welcome, but it's the mask that concerns me as I've tissue paper thin from 58 years of steroids most of my life and they used a bipap in hospital & bruised my face. (Only for 2 nights)
Their full face mask they tried small, medium and large and none fitted well so I'm looking for this full face covering mask I mentioned above.

    Thank you

    Good Morning,

    Thank you for your post.

The Dreamstation Auto and humidifier is a great choice. It is one of our most popular machines with our customers. The feedback is that it is very quiet. Also you can create an account on dreammapper.com website or app and link your machine to your account to view your data.

With regards to full face masks, you can use any of the mask on our website with the Dreamstation CPAP machine - https://www.cpap.co.uk/shop/cpap-masks/full-face-masks.html
I would suggest trying a hybrid mask such as the Amara View, as this may have less contact with your face than some of the other masks -
    https://www.cpap.co.uk/philips-respi...3-1090604.html

Alternatively have you tried a gel mask, such as the Ascend Gel Full Face mask - Fit pack - https://www.cpap.co.uk/ascend-gel-fu...k-fitpack.html The cushion is made of gel rather than of silicone, so is softer and cooler on the face. This mask comes with 3 different size cushions for you to try at home to see which fits best for you. This masks also has a manufactures love it or return it policy. So you have 28 days to the mask at home and if it is unsuitable then you can return the mask for a refund of the mask price.

I would also suggest also trying a sample pack if RemZzzs mask liners, as these are a soft cotton fabric liner creates a barrier, absorbs skin oils and reduces air leaks as well as skin irritation and pressure marks. You can try a sample pack for just £6.99. - https://www.cpap.co.uk/remzzzs-cpap-...sk-liners.html

Please let me know how you get on,

    Kelly

Thanks Kelly, I've bought the Ascend and the one that sounds like a German sounding name which was now expensive so I've got a choice of two. Thank you
