  • Where to put hose ?

Hi can anyone tell me what is easier , having your hose over your shoulder near your neck , or have it above your head ?? Thanks.

Hummm! Depends what kind of mask you have and where your machine sits?
I use nasal pillows and my machine is at head hight with the hose dropping down and then coming up and behind the pillow.
When I had a nasal mask the hose left going downwards so had it going under the duvet and up, then I changed it so it went from the machine up to the bed head to a small bungee which allowed it to move around as I moved in bed. I used both methods for the full-faced mask, but the bungee worked best.
I got a longer hose for this method.
    Hope this helps.

I go for on my chest as I sleep on my back with one arm on top trapping it in place. On various occasions my wife has suggested other places to shove the hose but she is only joking.....I think.....and anyway the noises would probably be worse that way.

You can also try having it go straight up using a CPAP Hose Lift. That gives you the freedom to move without fear of you pulling on the hose. It takes some of the weight off the mask, too.

Other than that, it just comes down to personal preference and what works, and feels best, for you. There is no right or wrong in this regard.

I tuck mine under the duvet and out the side of the bed. This managers to keep rainout from occuring

I swear by the hose lift Tom mentioned - I even have 2! One lives with my home machine, the other is packed ready to travel with me.

Second that the hose lift is great. Though I find that the metal bracket to fit it to is far better than the "under the mattress base" which is not solid enough.I have a small table at the side of the bed with my machine on and screwed the bracket to the side of that at the back nearest the bed. works a treat & can swivel it out of way when required

                    brass bedstead

I have a brass bedstead so the hose goes over the top rail. When I go away I take a hose lift with me (and a 4 metre long power cable).

That long power cable is brill. Up until this summer I had been carting a kilo of extention cable with 2 sockets on the end plus my ordinary cable....sound of hand hitting forehead and "doh" noise.

You need two sockets, one for CPAP and one for mobile phone charger!

I use a multi adaptor, usb and stuff all in. Anyway a bit of starvation might make it less prone to running up bills on the internet after a few beers and no free wifi.

My machine is on the floor and lord knows where the hose goes when I am asleep as I am still a trifle restless and sleep on my front, my back & on my side.
But I have never had a problem with it...not strangled myself yet!

You should get a "hose Lift" it either fits under your mattress por you can get a bracket tom screw on then headboard, wall etc. Then the hose will be lifted away from you, Also prevents rain out if using a humidifier
