More than one mask from NHS

Does anyone know if the NHS are likely to give you more than one mask?
I currently have a Full face one that was supplied to me but would like to try a nasal one with a chin strap. I am loath to cough up £100 or so to buy one.
So anybody who has managed to get more than one out of your local centre I would like to hear from please

My local hospital offered me the choice as a trial. It may worth going back to them and saking to try a nasal one?

New Mask

I'm with Papworth.
I didn't get on with the first mask so they sent me the Liberty nasal pillows and later I asked for a chin strap and got that too.

I have had two a Quattro FX and a Silk Gel from my hospital in three months, and i'm in North Wales.

I was told by my clinic you could only have one mask on nhs

It seems here that you only have to ask, so I did and they sent me more masks without any problems

Each clinic has their own rules on this. In some cases (like my clinic) they even have different rules depending on which local authority area you live in (the clinic serves about 5)

Postcode lottery anyone?

I had to supply my own mask just to try out a CPAP machine and have had to buy several masks since.
I also had to buy a humidifier.
It is a lottery!!!

nasal mask

Hi Proterra; I am in Sheffield and have a barely used Swift FX mask which you are welcome to have. I tried it but turned out to be a mouth breather so it has been sitting in a box in the cupboard for most of its life.

Hi everyone, Hope you all had a good Christmas

I have had up to now 4 different masks since April 2011. I've tried 2 different sizes of Mirage Quattro (1 med and 1 small), a Quattro FX and the Mirage Liberty.

All in all, I found the standard Quattro the best mask for me so if yours is not working, I'd probably discuss it with your local clinic to find something that suits you. But like Fredxx pointed out, different clinics have different rules. No harm in asking though. I felt cheeky asking the guys at my clinic but they told me they were there to help find the best one to suit me.

What was the other quattro's like, could you give us a run down as I would like to try something different but quite like my standard Quattro

The FX was not for me as it gave me constant leaks around the bridge of the nose area. The liberty mask didn't agree with me as the nasal pillows felt as though it was ripping my nose apart after a few hours!

I used to have leak problems with the quattro but since I changed the headgear to a medium size.. it's perfect and I'm a side sleeper too.

More Masks?

There seems to be an awfull lot of masks now available, so much so I was thinking maybe I should get intouch with my clinic and ask them for something new and it seems were preasured to keep trying new ones out. I decided against this as the first mask I was given seems to work fine and why rock the boat. Maybe someday I should get my feet wet and go with the flow but some look like torture devices
