  • Time to change?

    Hello all...

Seen quite a few comments on the Quattro FX - sounds like a decent bit of kit.

I use a Mirage something or other with Remzz to stop it shifting about too much. I do get a few of the usual leaks and sometimes a few red marks - but nothing to "lose sleep over" (ha ha)... the only reason of considering a change is to get away from the forehead thing - I'm hoping the Quattro FX would make it easier to read until I nod off.....(?)
A few daft questions if someone wouldn't mind helping out...
    1. Would I have to tinker with any settings on my CPAP machine?
    2. Can I assume the hose would still connect without any new fittings?
    3. Would I still need to use Remmzz to minimize leaks and keep it all comfy?
    4. How on earth do I get the right size... is there a shop in London where I could try before I buy?

    Thanks for any help,
    Stratters

    The Holy Grail!

Seems your asking some of the most important questions that are asked about most days. As far as Im aware all mask will fit on your hose but I could be wrong TF is your man for that.

The subject I like is size and yes it does matter I was measured when I was first given my mask and machine and was told medium, bang in the middle so off she went and brought it in for me to try. I laid down and it leaked all round in different places so I asked for a large and bingo worked a treat and never had leaking problems. Always check and give it a good trial when your getting your new mask, make sure you lie down with it on as this is important.

Yes, like the Hans Rudolph masks, without the forehead pad, it is easier to read, especially if you wear glasses.

Depends on the "something" in your "Mirage something". If you can find out the exact make and model, we can check the exhalation port leak rates in ResMed's product specification PDFs.

Yes, all new machines and masks use a 22mm connection. Even if the tube narrows, the mask connection is always 22mm.

Maybe, maybe not. Time will tell. Some people don't need liners at all, other swear by them.

There are no shops in London, or anywhere for that matter. Only at Resmed's offices can you pre-arrange mask fitting sessions.

Which mask size do you currently use?

ResMed haven't listed a mask sizing template on their site yet for the Quattro FX. But people who have used both say the sizing corresponds well with the old Mirage Quattro, the fitting template of which you can find here.

You can ring ResMed and they'll send you a physical sizing gauge.

Many thanks - my something or other mask is a Mirage Quattro (small) - and I attach it to a S8 Escape II........ The hospital takes care of the pressure settings - so I'm hoping I wouldn't need to change them.
Thanks again - great to have such instant support!

I use Resmed Quattro FX full face mask. We ordered a medium, as this is what I usually wear, but it was to big. The measuring tool said small, and it fits well. It is a really good fit and it works really well.

It is always time to change! Not necessarily your mask, but something. The rut gets to deep to get out of if you don't change something regularly - daily if you can.

All Quattro FX come with a sizing guide. The sizes are quite different to the mirage quattro. They tend to be bigger than the old quattro but it is all about the length between nasal bridge and the divet in your chin.
