  • nasal or full face

Hi its my 1st post, went with snoring keeping wife awake and got told I had severe osa and stopped breathing average of 47 times an houre OMG.
picked up my cpap on 23rd Dec. my nose is either blocked or running and I am having trouble breathing in the day time.I also suffer with sinositus and hayfever, should I ask if I can swap to a full face mask.

Just to get it in before Tiger, one word...Sinupulse.

I had a lot of sinus problems and blocked nose before I started using it a couple of times a week...much better now! I am looking forward to hayfever season arriving so I can see the difference it makes then! (ok, so maybe "looking forward to" is putting it a bit strong...)

Other than that, I found Otravine helped, but shouldn't be used all the time. Others swear by Olbas Oil or Menthol crystals.

Personally, I have never felt the need to try a full face mask in the 10 years I have had CPAP, but if your clinic will give you one to try, go for it!

      Welcome!

I was concerned too about the same thing before Christmas. How is the nasal mask working for you? The pressure should help keep your nose open while you're asleep - you're two weeks in nearly - how's it going in general?

I'd say that if you're getting on OK with the cpap then don't bother with the full face mask, but if they'll give you one just in case take it!

found the nasal mask worse than useless even after septoplasty, which i'm convinced never worked anyway.

          Two words, Fredxx! Sinupulse Elite!

And yes! Scotty44 - a full face mask will very probably help (but you'll get a dry mouth if your nose stays bunged).

Like a sore nose, the dry mouth does go away. I dont use a humidifier, I take mine cold and dry and after my body got use to it, I dont get any symtoms anymore. My nose hasnt been sore now for months and I dont wake with a dry mouth other than normal sleeping. It just takes time for your body to get use to your way of life and your set-up. I went through hell to get where I was and quit many times but like so many before me, time is a great healer
