I'm currently testing a Quattro FX. Its ok but after 3 nights usage my face is really red in the morning. As anyone else experienced this? could it be an allergic reaction to the seal?

Red face in the morning.
Quite normal I'd say as you do have to have the mask clamped on well. Me, I've got a what you can only describe as a "monkey" ring and an imprint on my forehead. I'd be surprised if there was an allergy, the stuff is pretty inert.

Red rings, faces and sore spots are most commonly due to over-tightened headgear.
What is the most common mistake with CPAP?
Over-tightening the headgear.
Hang loose, brothers and sisters - you want it j u s t tight enough, is all.

Rainout i would expect..... basicly.. i assume your using a humidifier?
So the moist air travels from your machine along a pipe thats colder than the air traveling along it so it condenses and leaves water inside the pipe...
Depending how you have your machine and pipe setup.. this can allow the water to travel slow the pipe and eventualy be blown out into your mask,,, hence the spitting,,
Solutions... i suppose the best is a heated hose.... failing that.. get a hose huggie.... is like a fleece liner that covers the length of the hose holding the heat in more..
lastly.. try placing the machine lower than where you sleep with the hose running `uphill` .. which should allow the majority of the water to run back downhill into the humidifier
im fairly new to all this myself.. so feel free to add or correct me anyone

What machine have you got? if its the Resmed S9 it has its own dedicated heated hose with extra sensors to monitor the humidity entering the mask,,, and its quite cheap for what it offers,, around 25 quid i think...Originally posted by Sleepy Pete View PostChivalry & symmit, thanks for the advice. Where would I get a hose cover from?
