Might take a while to get your just right fitting. As TF says you don't want it overtight as the "lips" need to float like a hovercraft. I'd strongly recommend getting some fitting help, it made all the difference to me. My quattro has a large adjustment range for the forehead pad and it can be tricky to get the fit around the nose but once sorted I'd keep the top straps attached, just fit the loop over your head and learn to locate the side straps by touch. I also don't bother with the ramp setting on my machine now so I can see where it's going to leak at full throttle. Stay with it and best of luck; don't expect it to be perfect straight off until you've developed your "silicon fetish!"
Well after my first night using the Quattro, I can report that the seal was very good, I am impressed by that, however I found it a little uncomfortable at times as the silicon flaps became a bit sticky (guess as I was hot last night a may have sweated?)
Overall though I was quite impressed, I'll give another update after I've used it for a while longer.
As so many of you seem to have the ResMed Mirage Quattro, here's a little deal for you. If you leave a review of it on our site, we'll send you a 6-pack of RemZzzs for that mask for the effort. Just make sure you mention the size you use in it (so we can send the right liners) and tell the world in two brief (or long) paragraphs why you like it, including any killer tips you have for extra comfort. Free RemZzzs offered for reviews placed till Sunday mid night. UK and Irish users only, sorry.
First three of you will get a 30-pack of liners, the next 2 get the 6-pack plus a Citrus II spray to boot and the rest gets 'just' the 6-pack so hurry
A few of you jumped right in there, nice! Couple more freebies up for grabs, for those Quattro lovers our there. PS Reviews go in a moderation queue after which they'll be published in a matter of days. Thanks for your submissions, whoever you are
If it was a machine and a gel mask, that'll go live soon too. Batch processing helps with keeping the website cache fast and up to date so the turnaround depends on how many reviews we get in a given week. But they'll go live!
Got this back in May to replace the replacement Fischer and Paykel one the hospital supplied. the new F&P 407 was suppoed to be an improvement on the previous one, but running a pressure of 16 on it meant it was very noisy to use, and the blast of air coming out of the front...not nice for my partner!
The Softgel mask was a big improvement. It is much bigger and bulkier than the old F&P one, but that was compensated for by the adjustment that meant it was easier to set up and stop leaks, and the big gel cushion that means it is very comfortable to wear.
Having said how good it is, ordered a Sleepweaver today, so I'll see how that goes.
Thanks James,
The liners are very much appreciated.
Oh and if anyone asks they also work with the sleepweaver. The liners get in your eyes a bit (I need to work out how to tuck them in) but it helps stop the whistles and is nice and soft on your upper lip area. Put the liner "hole" over your nose only.
Thanks again!

The first thing to ask is are you a mouth breather? I have now tried two nasal masks - the last one being the sleepweaver - which I thought was solving the problem - but eventually did not. I still managed to sleep with my mouth open and the pressure on the nose was just too much. So for me it has to be a full face mask - and I will have to replace my Joyce full face one which is dropping to bits. I will wash and disinfect the sleepweaver and put it up for sale....
