  • Mask trial?

I just wondered if there was anyone that fancied meeting up some time?
My idea was that we could bring our masks and let each other try them to see if they worked any better than the ones we are not getting on with.

No doubt someone will think that a bad idea but I am loath to go to my clinic again and say I want yet another mask unless I actually knew what I wanted.
I live near Gatwick in the southeast and would welcome anyone here if they thought it a good idea?

In view of the fantastic response .....

Let's make a date to meet at the Intus Stand next SATAday at 11pm - then we can swap notes over the coffee James will offer us before taking us all to lunch.

    Is that a plan. James?

If you like crowds, we'd better make it the early 11pm, then - you know, the one before lunch!

I've just emailed SATA to ask if I can join their club, hope I am not too late for tickets.

              Same mistake

              Hi Lorraine

I did the same and eventually received an e-mail in reply telling me

to download the application form from their website.

It's top oif the list under ' downloads'.

                Ahh, ok, thank you.
Oh and please stop making me go off topic, I am going to get in to trouble soon.

                  Accused - but of what?

                  Hi Lorraine

You have tickled my sense of injustice!!!!

I fail to see where I have forced you off topic!

Of greater concern to me, though, is why you feel alone in your sins. You know what a supportive bunch we are!

SATAday has been selling out for years (300 capacity) so it seems there's room for another event. We have a few ideas but it's nothing serious yet. You will of course be the first to know.

When we were there last year, people started to walk in well before the official opening time. We hadn't even built our stand yet. Funny thing was, in inverted comma's, that people got in so early, they still had the mask marks on their face while we were officially launching RemZzzs. Needless to say, that kind of helps with the "come check this out" pitch. So I prefer 8am over 11pm And if not in Oxford, some to Perth on October 2.

The SATA membership form can indeed be found here:

If this forum was the first you heard of them, let them know!

A swap and try session is a great idea but does pose some H&S issues of course. If organised by patients for patients, that might not be an issue. But if it was done by us or a hospital, imagine the Swine Flu scare/liability that brings.

On CPAPTalk, that big US forum you've probably landed on one day after Googling one thing or another, they have a nice effort going where people swap masks by sending them to eachother. So without the meeting part, they agree to swap masks by mail and try them. If you like it, you keep it, if you don't, you try and find a new swapping partner. Feel free to place such requests here and share your addresses over private messages.

Welcome back, old buddy - long time no post! Still not pulling your punches, I'm delighted to note. Can we look forward to a little ohcrob spice to enliven our coming days?

                        I do hope so!

                          Swapping Masks

Hi everyone, I have been holding back on this one. I kinda agree with ohcrob--YUCK. Kinda like swapping toothbrushes. These things can be cleaned--but not put through a sterilizer. Glad I am not the only one who isn't all for it, but then being in the USA kinda gets me out of it! LOL Berneta
