  • I have a problem with the headgear of the Sleepweaver I haven't yet solved. It is riding up under my ear lobes and cutting the skin on one side and making the other under-ear and both my cheeks raw. I have tried taping my ears down with the micropore tape but that seems to set the mask at the wrong angle and the headgear still produces a sore across my cheeks. I have tried putting those cozy wraps on the cheek straps but I guess with the problem pre-existing they were up against it and didn't seem to do any good.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    • If you extend the forehead strap, you can tilt the entire headgear setup back and down, so the straps under the ears change their angle and give you more leaway. For those who want more in-built flexibility, I think it's one of the improvements they seek with introducing different headgear sizes this year. Until then, this tilting is one method, or literally extending the elasticated parts that run vertically from crown to neck.

Thank you James. It is a tad difficult to do this as the straps are all a little short and I found that I couldn't actually keep the mask leak free without tightening the forehead strap a tad and that then worked the headgear up under the ears again when I'm asleep. I tried it over the ears instead and it sealed perfectly or at least I think so. I have been so tired all day, I think I failed to get any juice out of my night's sleep and this also happened with the second night using this mask last week. Might wait until my oximeter arrives to try it again.

        • Hello

I'm new to all this, but couldn't resist ordering one after the first two nights with a nasal mask which caused sores under my nose, and a full face mask that my husband said I was still snoring with. I'm using Swift LT for Her now and have had two good nights sleep, but I thought the SleepWeaver would be a good alternative back up to have for those nights when I can't get a good seal, like last night which took ages to get a comfortable seal.

          It's all a learning curve!

          • Chrissie - welcome!

If you can get on with a Swift LT the sleepweaver should be easy! Don't be too hung up about a little leakage if it doesn't disturb you - they're that comfortable it makes everything else I've tried feel cumbersome and unweildy!

            • Welcome

Hi Chrissie, It takes awhile for most of us to get used to the whole affair. A few take to it like ducks to water--but still have a problem now and then. Just hang in there and give yourself some time to get used to it. Try not to force it--if you are having a terrible night. A couple hours of just resting beats a constant frustrating night of fighting the mask--then try again when you have calmed down. Try wearing it in the evening or in the daytime just to get used to the feel of it. Learning to adjust the tension on the straps is a lot of getting used to it. Hope you have good luck, and it won't take you too long to feel normal again. x Berneta

              • Hello Chrissie, Just take your time when fitting the mask and if you do not get it right have a rest and then try again. You will eventually get used to wearing a mask and headgear, it all seems very strange at first to everyone.

I found it useful to practice fitting the mask on before bedtime and just perhaps watch television, listen to ipod or read a book.

Do not worry it will all be easy in time and welcome to forum.

                • Hello

I got my SleepWeaver delivered today, but I've had three brilliant nights sleeps and I'm reluctant to change from Swift pillows. It looks cool though Leopard skin, all I need now are the thongs to go with it!

                  Who said CPAP wasn't sexy!

                  • Well done on the three nights - why not give the Sleepweaver a try during the day to see how it fits and works for you, then just keep it on hand for when or if the Swift causes you issues or breaks?

I'm stocked up with masks now, got three nasal, two full face - plenty of choice and spares!

This is good advice. It is very tempting if you are stringing together a few nights where everything works to keep going with just the one mask. However, relying on a single mask only to find production has stopped and I couldn't obtain a replacement or spares, I can only agree that building up a small stock of masks, alternatives, and spares is the position to get into if you can.

Hi I have been reading your comments on the sleepweaver and am very tempted to invest in one I have been having trouble with other masks 1st one was painfull 2nd mask was nasal softgel it was ok put pushing into my lip so was given a nasal pillow to try swfit lt could not make it fit my nose it appears my nose bends a little out of place so went back last week to change back to softgel I mentioned to the sleep technician about other masks and mentioned the sleepweaver she told me that they are not yet proven and did not have any it appears the NHS only have a minimum of mask styles and I have tried them apart from full face mask but that would make me feel to claustrophobic only breathe through my nose. Anyway I digress should I wait now until they come up with the next generation of sleepweaver or just go for it. Only been diagnosed since September last year so still don't understand a lot about readings and graphs only attendede clinic twice next app 6 months.

                          • Jackie - if you can afford it buy a sleepweaver - I think Intus are doing a money back guarantee on it - if you can sleep with a nasal mask you'll absolutely love the sleepweaver - from what I've tried so far it's the next best thing to having no mask at all.

I have an odd shaped nose, leaks and discomfort are common across masks for me and I'm so happy the sleepweaver just works - it can be leaky but for me it's well within the acceptable range for the machine to compensate.

You are right, we are now offering a money-back offer on the SleepWeaver.

Basically, once you buy it, if you do not get on with it then you can return it within 30 days. Usually we are unable to accept returns for hygiene reasons but we are making an exception for the SleepWeaver - mainly because it's a mask that people are unsure about trying and don't want the gamble of buying something so different. So we're removing that gamble, and so far only a very small amount of people haven't liked it. Hopefully that won't change now so that this returns offer doesn't bankrupt us!

So if you have been umming and arring about getting one, there's certainly been no better time to do so

Well I have bitten the bullet and treated myself to an early birthday present and ordered my sleepweaver mask today after reading the reviews and recommendation from Symmit why not try it. My nose is a bit sore today where the silicone has rubbed overnight hopefully in a few days this won't happen. Also with the offer of money back from Intus I really have nothing to lose.
