I first got my mask, I was given some general advice but did not have a proper fitting and a trial with a machine and I've had a lot of trouble getting a decent seal since.
Eight weeks now and Lamia and I were still having difficulties adjusting to each other. She kept trying to bite my face off or hiss into my eyes so we never seemed to get through an unbroken night together and I woke up feeling as if I'd been to war. We both felt we were barely tolerating each other. I'd tried all sorts of homespun remedies to control her excesses but last week we went back to the technicians for counselling.
Within minutes, the relationship guidance counsellor had coupled us to one of their machines, unpicked all my adjustments and come up with an arrangement of the headgear and forehead pad - Lamia's a Mirage Quattro - that allows her lips to get a closer seal on my uniquely beautiful features. The last few nights have much more successful; she seems a lot happier and much quieter, though she's still a bit full on and likes to be in charge - I guess true love takes time and always involves compromises.
