No such thing as a daft question.
I have used one drop of something to add a scent to the water when I had a slight cold and it didn't do any harm. Lavender oil though?
Best thing to do would be to phone the manufacturer or email them and ask the question, but be aware it can be quite concentrated, even just one drop can be very strong as I found out as ALL your air is coming past it, and at the start it is a lot stronger than you would think.
If you want to find out just how strong it can be just try just one Calpol drop that most of us got at one time when we were kids on our pillow. Just one drop is quite strong as the vapour is concentrated in the area of your Humidifier Tank.
Just thought I would warn you. It was a lot stronger than I thought it would be!S2S - Sleep2Snore

Please be careful with these products. A lot of these are NOT for consumption. Some products can be poisonous if digested and putting products in the water and inhaling them is just the same. Always check the labels.
Olbas oil has a warning not to digest but yet you can inhale the vapour so its quite a grey area for some products as putting this in water could be dangerous as your inhaling the product and not the vapour, again please check before doing anything.

Just wanted to inform all you mums out there that Olbas Oil is highly toxic if accidently swallowed, there is no symbol on the packaging to warn consumers that this is highly toxic. I urge anyone with this product in their cupboard to put it out of reach of their children. What is mis-leading in my view is that the wording on the packaging makes it sound like it is a herbal remedy, it most definitely is not. Should have a big X on the box like other dangerous substances.Last edited by Sparticus; 15 July 2013, 12:10.
