It would take an awful lot of "air" to weigh 5lb, so this has to be genmuine weight unfortunately.
Do you weigh yourself at the same time each day? Have people been telling you that as soon as you start to use CPAP then you will lose weight, because in my case I still gained weight.
Best to keep an eye on your food intake, and maybe try to get 45 minutes to an hour exercise each day.
Good luck,
Andy

Generally people will find they lose weight when they use CPAP, but this is not always the case.
Bad sleep usually results in carb-cravings, leaving you wanting food full of sugar and flour, which naturally leads to weight gain. CPAP allows you to sleep properly, and so many will see these cravings fall.
The other aspect is that you should have more energy, naturally making you more active and therefore burning more calories.
As you mentioned, exercise is difficult for you, but your desire for carbohydrate-rich foods should diminish, and so you should be satisfied with eating healthier food and smaller portions, so long-term CPAP should still help you lose weight.
As I mentioned, it won't be the case for everyone, but there are well-established reasons why CPAP is connected with weight loss - it isn't just thrown out there as a motivation for those just starting to use it.

Fruit has high natural sugars, the recommended break down of veg to fruit should be 60% / 40%, If you are going well over the 5 a day, most of it should be veg / salad and no more than 3 portions of fruit (so I have been told)...

I would imagine the weight loss comes with improved energy levels when starting treatment and with the increase in energy levels means you'l lose weight at the start untill your apetite kicks in then weight gain is inevitable. I sometimes wake in agony with trapped air but a few star jumps sets me off like a deflating balloon

If I tried that I think the missus would kill me
