Thats like a new driver asking what car shall I go for! There are lots of machines that roughly do the same job and also you have fixed ones and Auto ones that will raise or lower your preasure as you need it etc. Some have more bells and whistles some have different software and data recording and some are even a different colour. If you want one of the best then you cant go wrong with a Resmed S9 but again thats my choice.Originally posted by chandradeny1 View PostWhich type of sleep apnea machine is better???

There are a number of things that will influence the best machine for you:
Your Lifestyle:- Will the machine just sit by the bed (i.e. run it off a battery)
- Will you be doing a lot of travelling with it
- Will you need to use it away from Mains power
- Do you need humidification
Your Clinic:- What machines do they have to offer
- What machines can they support
- how much do you want to be able to trace your own therapy
Your budget:- Can you get one on the NHS
- How much do you want to spend
And then the final consideration - actually, the interface between you and the machine is probably the more important element, and masks are a whole question all of their own!

I agree with everyone, it is what it is, a CPAP machine. The major differences I read and heard from my provider prior to my purchase were how the machines delivered the air. The ResMed machine has something called EPR, Respironics has Flex and Fischer Pykel has neither. From my research and from talking to my company, the flex or epr can be a good thing for some and not a good thing for others.
I chose the ICON and have been pleased. I didn't mind the air, but the mask was a little difficult to get used to. They gave me 30 day guarantee on the mask, so I traded mine in and got one that worked for me.
Good luck on your search for a machine, but if I went back, I would make sure I researched or talked to someone about the masks as that is the difficult part to get used to, atleast for me it was... My company did help me a lot though through the process!
