  • cough

I have been using a machine for 18 months now with various problems over this time but apart from still hating something on my face, it isn't so bad now but one problem which persists is that I have developed a cough that comes and goes. I also have an enlarged aorta and am sure |I read someone said they had a cough which went undiagnosed only to find the aorta was the problem all along. Anyone remember who posted this comment please as I'd like to read it again just in case! If others have found they also are bugged with a cough through using the machine I'd like to hear from them too please.

If the cough is from irritation from the machine then humidity may help, if you don't have a humidifier then get one!

When I have a cough I find that upping the pressure (1 or 2 notches) help alleviate it a little at the expense of general comfort - you may want to consult with your provider before tweaking settings though.

      Cough

      Hi:
I've used a S8 Autoset / humidifier machine for a few years- just upgraded to a new S9 + H5i humidifier. I've suffered with a cough first thing on waking for quite a time. Always felt it was connected to the machine somehow and had been told by Resmed that it can be a normal experince.
Tried with or without the humidifier, either way no real change but now with the new set up I think I will use the humidifier all the time.
Now also trying the Pur sleep air smellys as well

          Cough

          Hi:
I too have been to the docs - had numerous nasal sprays + chest xray all clear -good!! but still catargh cough 1st thing in the morning. Seems to be a way of life.
Now I read that the CPAP machine can also increase the risk of having tinitus due to the air pressure - which I also suffer with.
Atleast the CPAP keeps me awake now in the afternoon.

            cough

All these problems because you stop breathing in your sleep
The cough I have is still now more persistent and is annoying throughout the day. The doctor has checked lungs etc. and says nothing to worry about.
Have also seen an A & E specialist who has prescribed a spray which he doesn't think will work! Looking to operae next year. Actually now winter has arrived I seem to be able to breathe more easily and my nose not blocking. This year has been exceptionally dry in the Dordogne so maybe that caused problems in the summer. As I'm an old man I have other problems too which cause me to get up in the night so I never get a decent night's sleep. This not sleeping soundly is getting me down and my wife is ready to leae me!
