My bloke has just bought a very expensive tent for us to wild camp on Dartmoor - this involves walking and carrying what we need so vague queries I made a while back about this subject have suddenly became something I need to sort out!

Super CPAP battery gives me 3 nights at 16 on a Sleepcube CPAP - that is about as small and light a solution as I could find when I was looking into it. Works great for me

      Doh!

I bought an amazing tent last year, 4 bedrooms kitchen the works it was huge, luckly for us I managed to get an electric hook up so my cpap wasnt a problem. The problem for me was leaving my machine at home. What you need is some form of battery charger that you could rig to your car this way at least you can go longer than a few days

That was pretty much how I have used the battery...inverter from a cigarette lighter socket...on a boat last May it took about 2 hours a day to top the battery up when the boat was moving. If you are going to charge it from the car, you have to have the car running though - and do you really take your car wild camping...(not sure you would be taking a 4 bedroom tent either...)

Unfortunately the plan is to wild camp and this involves a long walk from the car to where we will put up the tent -could be as much as 10 miles!

              Camping

I'd settle for an old run down rattle shack rather than walk 10 miles. Of course I'm not a Spring Chicken either. Used to take my kids weekend camping when they were young and Chuck was out of town on a long truck run-- and we had no tent at all--just fishing poles and a bonfire. Good Old Days! x Berneta

Well - I agree with you, Lorraine, except this is about wild camping - so I guess we're talking 3* really.

Warm bed above ground level, waiters to bring the food, flushing loo and spa bath, room service and a fluffy white dressing gown are my minimum requirements.
Do you get those when 'wild' camping?

                  Thought not LOL

There is a lot to be said for wild camping and getting away from "civilisation". I've done a lot of it in the past and trained quite a lot of people in survival techniques.

There is something to be said for getting into the wilds, communing with nature and finding the space to find yourself. Of course, at this time of year, finding yourself when it is -16C and there is frost on the outside of the sleeping bag is a little more challenging than most times, but it is good for the soul. Not done that for 20 years though! lol
