Yep, same here victor, when I got my machine the nurse gave me 4 filters and said if I need anymore either come and get them or we will post them same with machine and mask any probs or equipment just ask. I rate our Sleep hospital ***** 5Star, probably why its one of the best in the world.
You get seen by a NURSE !!!!!!!!!
Resmed S9 Autoset
Resmed H5i humidifier with Climateline
Resmed Quatro Fx and F&P Forma masks
The waiting list here wasn't too bad for the sleep study as they do home studies here anyway, problem then would be having a diagnosis and a 3 mth wait for a machine (yes really). I could have tried an adjacent trust where they do split study and issue cpap the next day but have a longer waiting list for the study (which is where my friend is) but I had the spare money (was allocated to a non essential purchase) so I went online.
Has anyone had joy going from an online sleep study back to their GP to get NHS issued consumables (masks and hoses) after all I've just saved them a thousand quid or so...
The Nurses at The Sleep Hospital are all specialists we can also see consultants and tech heads. I have my own nurse who deals with me whenever I go in and she knows my story my equipment and my medical history so no chasing notes. Ive been down to the hospital on many occasions now and Im yet to fault them, I even missed my appointment once and they told me dont worry just come down when you can make it, so I went the next day without any probs.
Thats just about the same as Oxford then Spartacus ... nothing too much bother and every nurse I speak to has all the time in the world to help you ... cant say fairer than that .. can you?
Is this the same Oxford clinic that I go to (Churchill)?
The one where they told me that I couldn't have an APAP as they don't issue them?
The one where they told me in January that as I was compliant with the treatment then they didn't want to see me again unless something went wrong as they had too many patients to take care of?
Is this a case of the good old NHS postcode lottery even within the same clinic or do they just not like me?
Regards, GV
Given up my ResMed S8 Escape and got myself a Sandman Auto from James!
Still using the ResMed Mirage Quattro Full Face Mask
It took a while for me to be seen locally by E.N.T., after that I was in for a test and then referred to Edinburgh for treatment. This meant another Sleep Study, but because I had already been diagnosed they did a half and half and I left next day with a machine, mask and spare filters. I also had a video and a fact book along with their contact details and which nurses to ask for when I called.
I also had a follow up appointment for a years time. This all took around a few months from start to finish after going to see the GP. The GP was by far the hardest to convince there was anything wrong with me! Edinburgh was a small Sleep Clinic back then with not a lot of staff which meant they were easy to get to know
Back then you could even speak to the professor himself if you were pushy enough and he was around.
My filters fell out whilst I was travelling recently. Whem I notices they were gone, I sent an email to the hospital and they put a handful in the post and they arrived the next day.
No wait for the machine either and they have given me a couple of masks.
