Hi guys,
I just stumbled upon this video on Youtube and thought you might like to check it out as a handy tip for fixing your hose temporarily.

Do any of you have any alternative methods of fixing your hose? gaffer tape? blue tac? Let us and the community know.

If you haven't heard of Sugru, it's quite readily available and handy to fix all sorts of things, from model building to DIY to CPAP, it's very handy stuff:

Even adheres to steel, glass, wood, plastics etc. (Not recommended to permanently seal your mask to your face though...)

I can tell you what not to use, electrical tape (sometimes known as insulation tape). I did a repair at the machine end of the hose and it absolutely reeked .....the stench is enough to prevent you getting any sleep.....

Micropore is my travelling comanion, small leaks, small cracks and on one occasion when my velcro went i did use it to fasten my gel mask to my face......worked a treat until next morning when it was being taken off....painful but it worked.

I always carry a spare non-heated hose as back-up, let's face it they are cheap enough.

So we have:

[v] Sugru
[x] Electrical / Insulation Tape
[v] Micropore (which we use for sleep studies, securing probes etc.)
[v] Carry complete replacement

Gaffer tape might work?

How about a spare hose?

Well I did split my hose once and the only thing I could think of to repair it was a puncture repair kit

I split my hose when I was on holiday PANIC!!!

Temporary repair using cling film to wrap the hose (you need to cover at least three inches) followed by insulation tape on top of that, lasted two weeks until I got home.
The cling film bridges the gap and holds it together after the insulation tape is wrapped tightly on top, double it up, go one way lapping the tape and then come back so the tape is wrapping/ crossing the tape below.

What do you call that white stuff that plumbers use? Maybe that under the sealing tape would give a tighter seal.

PTFE tape, very slippy stuff. Don't know if anything would stick to it!
