  • Sleep Study Results

Hi, new to this so please be gentle.. I've received my results from a recent sleep study and could do with some help understanding exactly what it all means.
For example, my AHI was 69.6/h increasing to 110.3/h when supine. I spent 35.6% of my sleep in supine position so a 1/3 of my sleep the AHI is at the higher rate, but I don't understand what that actually means.
My apneas were recorded up to 100 seconds. What does this mean?
    My ODI is 64?

Anyone who can decipher this please let me know.

    Good Morning,

    Thank you for your post.

Please see my response to your questions below.

    1. AHI – this is the number of sleep apnoea events per hour. So if your AHI was 69.6/h increasing to 110.3/h when supine
This is how many sleep apnoea events you have per hour. The number of sleep apnoea events per hour increases when you sleep on your back (the supine position)

    2. I spent 35.6% of my sleep in supine position so a 1/3 of my sleep the AHI is at the higher rate,
Of the data collected on the night of your test you spent 35.6% of your sleep time on your back. This meant your AHI increased during this period

    3. My ODI is 64?
The ODI is the number of times per hour of sleep that the blood oxygen level drops by 3% or from the baseline. It uses the same threshold as the AHI score so and ODI of 64 would be severe.
