    Hello Everyone

I've got a home sleep study coming up and I was after some advice which would be unbelievably appreciated so thank you to anyone who can help!

    1) In order to improve my sleep somewhat, I've found that wearing a nose strip to open the nasal airway, and a mouthguard to discourage mouth breathing has helped a little. Do you think i should wear these during the study? My concern is that they might mask just how bad my sleep is without these things.

    2) They want to know how often I involuntarily fall asleep during the day. The truth is that I never do despite being permanently exhausted. I think it's because I have a lot of anxiety and struggle to relax. I don't know whether to be up front about this?

    Thanks again!

    Good Afternoon

    Thank you for your post.

I would either check with the people you are doing the sleep test with prior to see if you can wear the nose strip / mouthguard when doing the sleep test. For our In Home Sleep test we advise against this as this may not give a true representation of a normal night without any sleep aids.

With regards to involuntary falling asleep during the day, just be honest. Not everyone who has sleep apnoea falls asleep during the day. For the test/results to be accurate you have to provide the correct information.

      Thank you Kelly

I think my worry is not giving a true representation so I'll definitely talk to them first.

And that's a relief. I'll just tell them the truth.

      Thanks a lot!
