Sleep Apnea is a sleeping disorder where you temporarily stop breathing during sleep. However, I fail to see the relevance of your ranting about the government and insurance companies. I know people blame the government for many things, but blaming them for your suspected sleep apnea is perhaps going too far!

If your first test wasn't conclusive then surely they must allow you to do a second one, right?
      If you can read this...
...at least you seem to be getting enough sleep to stay awake and alert!

I must agree that the sleep test can be difficult.

The sleep test area is in a little side area of the chest dept in a hospital and as such the general ward was full of people with nasty lung illnesses. However the test room was lovely, clean and very boring. The atmosphere of being looked after by a pretty nurse was great, but ultimately getting off to sleep was very difficult. I seriously laid in bed for about 4 hours before I finally submitted to sleep.

Im sure sensors, cameras and computer recording body data doesn't help. Im sure if you suggest trying a second test, and getting there late enough to be actually tired might help.

            Second test

I am surprised at reading this as by nature sleep apnea is difficult to diagnose. I had a small machine to take home so I could be in my own surroundings. I only drifted as I was so aware of the clip on my finger. When I was shown the results, there was nothing abnormal but when I said I couldn't sleep with this clip I didn't have a problem being understood. I them got fitted with a mouth guard. I was told if that stopped working I would use a cpap. That was years ago. I wonder if it depends on the hospital you go to?

              My test was like sams

my test was exactly like sams a finger clip and a device like a wrist watch but I sleep about 16 hours per day it wasnt hard to fall asleep in my own comfortable bed. But i fail to see what the government have to do with it'

I did a home test and it was good

I have heard that many people flunk the big psg test because its so hard to sleep with lab techs all around you all night. Like others said above, you should look into an at home un attended sleep test. they are just as valid, or so I was told.

I had a home test too.....

And was quite convinced I had barely slept that night. A bit of worrying that I had put all the right bits in the right place, would I turn over and lose the nasal bit, etc. Mmmm, and the clip on the finger was quite uncomfortable too. All so very different from the usual nightly performance of going to bed, waking up thirsty, drinking water, needing to visit the loo, etc. etc.

The results from that test got me onto the CPAP and I've not looked back since then.
