  • Melatonin Information

For those of you considering Melatonin supplementation to regulate your sleep patterns, please first read this excellent post by a medical professional with an expertise in sleep:

A hormone with all of these possible effects - even though it's "natural" - isn't something you should be taking without the specific recommendation of your doctor.
Melatonin, on its own, is not a sleeping pill.
Who here takes Melatonin and how did it affect you and OSA?

    For jet lag only

    Hi James

I use Melatonin for jet lag - I reckon it cuts the recovery time in half, at least.

Very occasionally, if I really can't sleep, I'll pop a couple to send me off.

I remember that some people - reportedly - were using it as a wonder youth drug. Taking it regularly in large quantities and claiming it reversed or slowed the aging process. That was in US but sales were banned in UK for that reason, apparently.

I was told that it was a natural human hormone and therefore harmless - occasionally, in small quantities so as not to upset natural production and balance.
