  • Aveo TSD (Tongue Stabiliser device)

Not sure if this is the right category for this. I visited my consultant today here in NZ (Saturday) who suggested that I might like to try the TSD if I am away for a night or two instead of taking my APAP. Has anybody tried this device? It is a NZ invention but has been marketed in the UK since 2006. The web site www.aveosleep.co.uk certainly gives a very good recommendation for helping SA or snoring.

The device is fitted on to the tongue and it looks as if you are sucking a dummy when in place - could be an alternative therapy for those not wanting to wear a mask.

argh.. can you imagine having that in your mouth and on your tongue all night - I find it hard enough it i have a mouth ulcer - or if I bite my tongue - and just about anything like that would set off my gag reflex.

The whole anything in your mouth at night is just wrong - I also suspect i'd have saliva coming out of my mouth all night.

No this is no early April Fool.

My consultant has tried out every single mask and machine there is on the market, including the TSD. It took him a week to get the right fit but he admits he sure had a very sore tongue at the end of the week.

Incidentally his favourite mask was the Resmed Activa - thought that was the most comfortable and most effective.

What a strange device. It would look more at home in an Ann Summer's catalogue (not that I've ever read one)
