    hello people

ive been using cpap since september 08. and i am finding that i long for a good nights sleep without the mask (i know i cant have both) i was just wondering if that seems to be the case for other people!!
also the mask keeps letting air out of the side whilst im asleep (the wife says i sound like a trumpet) any ideas how to combat this i tried tightening the straps but the mask cut into my nose (obviously to tight) any help will be much appreciated
    thank you in advance

I have two masks. One is a full face mask and the other is nasal pillows. Last night I went to sleep in the full face, woke up because I couldn't stand the feel of it and the leaks, and switched to the other. I tend to breathe through my mouth so I have to use a chin strap when I use the nasal pillows. Is it possible for you to try a different type of mask? I keep reading that the leaks are caused by the masks being too tight rather than too loose -- in that they rest perfectly on your face when they are not so tight. I think most of us have felt your frustration. I hope you have the opportunity to try nasal pillows as I generally feel they are more comfortable and less intrusive to my sleep.

      hello

thanks for replying but unfortunatly i have trouble breathing through my nose! (have done since childhood) so the nasel pillows are a bit of a no no but i will try and loosen the mask slightly and see if it helps!

You could also try a completely different make of mask. I use a quattro and a zzz mask and tend to swop them around as I think the shape of my face moulds to the mask after a while and then I get leaks. Swopping over the masks every so often see mes to stop this

          Masks

I have a mask and nasel pillows as I breathe through my nose but I have nights where I pull the mask off and go to sleep and I am reminded by my wife to refit the mask, I find swapping between the mask and pillows does help as my nose gets a bit sore with the pillows but I have tried tightening and slackening off the straps until I get comfortable without leaks, I have a real empathy for those who are unable to have a good nights sleep as I too have nights when I think I have been awake all night but my wife would suggest I had only woken a couple of times as she is a very light sleeper. Do try and work with your clinic to find a mask which suits your face shape and is comfortable.
