  • Just Diagnosed

    Hi All
Diagnosed today couldn't believe how far from normal my read outs were nearly 80 apneas an hour. Have been issued with an APAP for 7 days retest at seven days then issue with CPAP after that. I did take it in but i must admit it's all a bit mind blowing i thought i just snored rather loudly. Any way the better half may get a good nights sleep who knows.
Should be novel going to bed with the light sabre will keep you all informed.
    Regards macone

    That's the usual routine indeed.

It'll soon be a must-have for you, it takes just about a few nights to really get used to. Do keep us posted and let us know if you have any questions. There's years of experience in these forums to help you through it.

      Hi and welcome..

Hopefully it will all go great - some people take to CPAP like a duck to water !

But the first few weeks and months on cpap can be trying... remember not only are you trying to learn to sleep with a mask on - you are also very very very tired - so if it all seems to be going badly try to remember that.

Stick with it... I had a bit of a nightmare to start - but one year on - and i wouldn't be without it.

If fact i find the mask quite comforting - i put it on, turn it on it starts up and know i am safe.

        Hi all
Thanks for the replies well that’s the first night done, must admit I was rather apprehensive when i went up the wooden hill last night. Got suited up (As in top gun.) and tried to sleep must admit it took a while but i must have managed it eventually. Slept as far as i know pretty soundly all night woken a couple of times slightly gagging with the air pressure going down my throat I guess the pressure must increase with the APAP the deeper into sleep you go.
Also felt it difficult to breath through my nose.
Woke around 7.45 feeling OK, well better than OK I actually didn’t feel like i had done twelve rounds with Mike Thyson .Only other down side the better half was no where to be seen she had opted for the sofa around 5.30 couldn’t sleep i was still snoring although not as loud as usual but she said the APAP was quite loud not good i thought after talking about it we decided ear plugs might help her to sleep through will give that a try and come back to you all tomorrow.

        Regards macone

          Hi Again
Well thats nights 2 and 3 longest sleep for ages on night 2 12hrs must have been playing catch up, around 7 hrs last night no real problems now, little bit of leakage with the mask from time to time.
Feel better than iv'e felt for ages so it's a thumbs from me.

          Regards Macone.

Good results! You're a natural Well done.

Most people will expereicne a bit of leakage every now and then but other than the annoyance, it's nothing to worry about.

Anyway, good job on getting to grips with it fast.

                    First & second night!!!Hummm!

Hi James.1st night-.I went to bed & slept 12 hours..Woke up dizzy, nose sore from pillows rubbing inside nose, eyes dry..2nd night-tossed & turned a bit after waking up and having my eyes blown outta my skull..This obviously is going to take some getting used to..Slept with the covers over my head so honey didn't have to see me with hose on my head..Admit..Still having a "Pity-party" for myself.I know not one single person that has to wear CPAP although I am a Registered nurse here in the states so hello and happy breathing to all of you!!.Insurance and medical is much different over here..Seems both have their good/bad points..Glad to have found all of you..I am still pouring over the forums and internet..I work in intensive care with ventilators,bi-pap,cpap but never did I think I would be included..My BMI is 21..If only I were "Big"(sorry) I could lose weight..I'm just a DNA defect I feel..Boo-hoo..Shocked about the 36 yo that died..Soo very sad.Guess I'm still in the denial/depressed phase of things.
