As some of you may know - i've been a CPAP user for about a year now and i've started to form some ideas about SA CFS(ME) and fibromyalgia (I am not a doctor or have any medical background - so this is just my opinion).
I was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia and then SA. I started the CPAP treatment and felt wonderful - about 1-2 months later i kinda stopped feeling so wonderful and the pain from the fibromyalgia seemed to re-assurt itself.
One year on i would now classify myself as someone with SA and fibromyalgia. Now i personally believe the fibromyalgia is due to years of untreated SA (about 15 in my case). I was really hoping the CPAP would cure the SA and the FM was mis-diagnosed. But sadly it's still with me - I live in hope that every sleep chips away at the FM (Having just had to take 3 days off work sick for the first time ever with a bad FM flare - i do worry).
The point of this all is to say that if you have SA get CPAP and then don't feel better - then maybe the sleep debt.. has damaged you - perhaps start looking at FM and CFS... sadly no cures but understanding the enemy is at least the start.
Sorry that this isn't the most upbeat post - please don't misunderstand CPAP has helped and changed my life - but it's not necessarily a miracle cure (and that is always what we all want).
