  • how long?

    hi all i recived my letter confirming i have sleep apnea.im still gutted my consultant says i should stop drivng 4 now which i have.i am on the waiting list for cpap tratment on the wirral,merseyside but does any 1 know how long it will take 2 start treatment?also when ive started treatment how long will it be b4 i can start driving again?i drive 4 my living.i visited my own gp today and he has signed me off for 2 months is this normal?also willi be able 2 get help with my rent and council tax even though i am self employed?

    Hi,

    How quick you'll get your equipment really depends on your area. I've not hear too much good or bad from that area so it's hard to say. Normally it just takes 7-10 days to respond to treatment so you could be back driving soon after that.

    Not sure about disability benefits but search on the forums here, these topics have been discussed before and sleep apnoea is a 'proper disability' so maybe you can get help. Of course, now you've been diagnosed, you can choose to buy your own equipment which means you get have it this week without further waiting. You shouldn't have to be 2 months out at all!
