  • sleep apnea?

There are many nights when i fall asleep that i will wake up and my pulse will be very fast. Then I will fall asleep for about 15 minutes and the same thing. This goes on for about two hours and then I am finally able to stay asleep. Does anyone think this is sleep apnea or do you think it could be something else? If so what?

I'm no doctor but whether or not it's sleep apnea, it does sound weird. Fast pulls means your heart is racing to pump blood around, possibly because of a lack of oxygen in the blood. That could be from sleep apnea. Do you know whether you snore, or stop breathing during the night? If you don't have a partner who can tell, you could set up a camera or webcam to record your sleep. Even just a sound recorder could hold some clues for you.

Or take away any doubt and go visit a sleep clinic.

It might be a good idea to sleep with a heart rate monitor to really determine what is going on. That should give you an even better insight. They come in many shapes but the easiest would be one of those in a wrist watch.

...at least you seem to be getting enough sleep to stay awake and alert!
