I was diagnosed with high moderate sleep apnea and I have tried a CPAP machine (not with much success)
As a test I have recorded myself on a pro microphone for a week. Listening to the recordings I never stop breathing or gasp for air.
I do snore but not excessively. I also don't think I shallow breathe very much. I believe snoring doesn't mean you have sleep apnea.
    I'm wondering should I get re-tested?

    Good Morning,

    Thank you for your post.

Can I kindly ask when you were tested for sleep apnoea and what was your AHI (sleep apnoea events per hour) score. The sleep test results are based on the night you did the test.

Have you made any lifestyle changes since being tested?

With regards to the CPAP therapy can I ask what CPAP machine and mask you have and what was the issues you experienced in case I can suggest something to help you.

If you use a CPAP machine and stop using it then the key signs and symptoms of sleep apnoea will come back - https://www.sleeptest.co.uk/obstructive-sleep-apnoea/

Please can you come back to me on the above and I will see what I can do to help you.

Alternatively, you can email us at [email protected] and we can go from there if you would prefer.

      I was tested this May.
The AHI is 28. Total apnoeas are 36 ,hypos are 180. The total number of
desaturations 200 and lowest saturations were 79.

I only manage on average 1.5 hours on CPAP per night.
I have made no lifestyle changes.
I'm wondering is it possible to have one bad night when you are being tested. I know the audio recording isn
't hugely technical but I do not hear any obvious problems.
      Thanks

        Good Morning,

        Thank you for your reply.

Your AHI score is just shy of the severe category of sleep apnoea which starts with an AHI of 30 of above events per hour. Do you still feel the same tiredness as before? Do you feel refreshed and that you have had a good night sleep each morning?

Can I ask where you did your sleep test as the one through the NHS and the In Home Sleep tests that we offer are very accurate, although again based on the night that the test was done.

If you were tested in May and have made no lifestyle changes then I would suggest that using the CPAP machine every night. I am happy to try and help you with your CPAP machine and mask if you can tell me what machine and mask you have and what are the issues as to why you only use it briefly each night. ie air leaks, high pressure, noise, mask issues.
