  • Rash on face where mask fits

Hi I have just joined this forum I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about 8 years ago due to stopping breathing when I was asleep and have been using the air sense 10 nasal mask over the last couple of years I get a rash where the mask fits on my face which has become very sore and only antibiotics helps clear it up it starts up again after I finish the course of antibiotics. If anyone has any ideas on what would help please let me know.

Hello, sorry to hear about this. Would that be a n allergic reaction? Are you using a silicone mask? You might need to consider soft cloth or gel mask.
If you experience discomfort, red marks or air leaks with your CPAP mask, consider these RemZzzs Mask Liners. A soft cotton fabric liner creates a barrier, absorbs skin oils and reduces air leaks as well as skin irritation and pressure marks. Try a sample pack for just £8.99.

It is also very important to wash your mask daily in mild soapy water and to apply it in the evening on a dry clean face, no night cream.

    I hope that will help.

        Good Morning,

        Thank you for your post.

I would suggest having a chat with your sleep clinic to see if they would review your CPAP therapy data to see if it is working well for you. If not, then to find out what the issue is (ie might be wrong mask) and help resolve it.
