  • Early stage diagnosis and cr*pping myself...

    Howdy!
44 yo Male, smoker, overweight (6'1 - 18 stone) and just did the home sleep study for 1 night.

I've just received a letter from the NHS advising me of an appointment for "sleep apnoia" next month.

It doesnt say what will happen, why, or what to expect, other than to bring a urine sample (though no sample container provided). Now i have a bit of a hospital phobia, so not knowing what to expect from this appointment is making feel a but panicky.

    I have so many questions....

What will they do at this appointment?
If I am diagnosed, will I have to give up my driving license? If I do, I'll lose my job of 15 years.
What is the urine sample for?

Anyone who can tell me what I've got coming will be helping me a great deal.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Please do not worry too much about your sleep test until you are there. Here is a link to Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, key facts: https://www.cpap.co.uk/obstructive-sleep-apnea.

As for any questions regarding your driving licence, I would suggest you to contact the Seep Apnoea Trust Association- http://www.sleep-apnoea-trust.org/co...-apnoea-trust/
Here is also a link to the Detailed DVLA Guidance for UK Drivers with Sleep Apnoea – Updated 23rd Jan 2019: http://www.sleep-apnoea-trust.org/dr...-sleep-apnoea/

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further advise if you are diagnosed as suffering from sleep apnoea.

    Giny
