  • Hayfever anyone?

Last week, I had to get dosed up on hayfever tablets, because I came down really bad with sneezing fits, runny nose and the worst itchy eyes I have ever had.
However, a couple of days ago it got considerably worse, and I felt absolutely knocked out - every joint and muscle hurting and I could hardly walk anywhere because my lungs felt as though they were on borrowed time.
Last night was the worst for a long while, because I sweated so much that this morning I was 1.5 kilos lighter, and I was so congested that it was a pleasure to rip the mask off. I also have a nasty case of the dark yellow snot and phlegm (sorry folks), and still have a temperature.
Has anyone else had this yet, and is it hayfever, or does it sound like a chest infection?

Hayfever on CPAP is no fun at all. I tend to supliment the one-a-day pills with Beconase nasal spray just before bed. The Sinupulse helps too

Elevating your head and chest on pillows about 45% can help, seems to make the yuck run down past it (non scientific description)

        thats not just hay fever

Sounds like a chest infection to me and I have got plenty of experience of them!

Sunday evening was the worst my hay fever has been in years; and triggered my asthma. What a great combination hay fever, asthma and sleep apnoea is..

If the pills aren't doing the trick then try smearing a very thin layer of Vaseline around the inside of each nostril. Also helps with nosebleeds if you suffer from them too as it helps stop the cpap from drying the lining of your nose. Don't worry, it was the recommended treatment by an ENT specialist at my local hospital.

Change the filters on your machine. Also get a pack of inline filters (philips ones from hope2sleep) you will be amazed how much they block. These have helped me since the pollen came! So far no antihistamines, but if i do need to take any i take them in the evening, sleep has become important to me!

I disinfect my rig (water chamber, hose, masks) weekly with milton, and have not had any infections in two years.
